ጋፈ እስኒፍ ሮቤ ኑፍ ከረፈፋኡ ህን ዺሱንስ ዋቀ ረክሳ ተኤረ። ከተማዹመ ቶኮ ኬሰት እዶ ቶኮት ሀማ ሮቤቱ እዶ ብራት ጫመ ተአ።

A heavy rain event reminded me two traditional expressions about Waqa and climate and made me bemused so much.
It made me think that climate change would confuse even Waqa.
One of the traditional expressions, የ ዋቀ ሮቢ ኑፍ ወይ፣ ጫሚ ኑፍ ወይ, are words of prayer to Waqa. It is not easy to translate the expression into English. It roughly means rain for us in moderation, bring dryness in moderation for us. It is a prayer against heavy rains or extreme droughts.
Climate change causes extreme flooding and extreme droughts.
The other expression, ጋፋ እስኒፍ ሮቤ ኑፍ ከርፈፋኡ ህን ዺሱ, are words of wisdom. It roughly means when it rains for you, it would at least sprinkle for us.
It is said in sparse rural communities because naturally rain events occur over expansive areas.
It appears that climate change causes heavy rain in one part and no rain in another part of a not so expansive city.
So, how is Waqa supposed to respond to the prayer about what climate change is causing or should people change their traditional praying language as a result of climate change?
