Re: DJIBOUTI OPPOSED TURKEY MEDIATION!!
why would Ethiopia do such a thing, no better agreement can be found with anyone else in the Horn thanks to Eritrea and Djibouti both being intransigent
everybody and their camel knows that Somaliland will never reunite with Somalia so the world should form an orderly queue to recognise my Somaliland as independent
Re: DJIBOUTI OPPOSED TURKEY MEDIATION!!
Ethiopia seeks access to the sea, yet it refuses to recognize Somaliland. It desires a maritime route without granting recognition, which makes this Memorandum of Understanding a futile exercise. Ethiopia is essentially deceiving itself by pursuing this agreement.
The situation between Somalia and Somaliland is complex and distinct. If Ethiopia truly believed this was the best course of action, it would have proceeded without hesitation. However, the fact that it continues to negotiate with Somalia for sea access, with Turkish mediation, suggests otherwise.
Let me make one thing clear: trust in this matter is misplaced. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has a history of betrayal—he has turned against the Amhara, his own galla people, and he even betrayed President Afewerki and the Eritreans. Rest assured, he will betray you as well. Isn't it dishonorable that he signs an agreement with Somaliland, only to then seek permission from Somalia through Turkish mediation? Ethiopia has no genuine interest in recognizing Somaliland's independence.

Re: DJIBOUTI OPPOSED TURKEY MEDIATION!!
that is fine if Ethiopia doesn't recognise Somaliland's independence since it is their choice but choices has consequences and there will no deal at all as the whole MOU can only materialise if Ethiopia recognises Somaliland
no recognition means no deal...........nobody else is offering what Somaliland has offered so Ethiopia better not reject this once in a lifetime opportunity

Re: DJIBOUTI OPPOSED TURKEY MEDIATION!!
I have always maintained that Ethiopia's right to sea access and recognition of Somaliland are two separate things. In principle, I have always supported Somalilanders right to nationhood, period.
I am not an expert in the internal clan and regional dynamics of Somaliland's internal forces and my knowledge is limited how the Ethio-SLR deal affects other stakeholders in SLR.
The Adal (Adwal) people have a long and complex relationship with Ethiopia, they even have Ethiopian roots as a people of Harar. I don't know how their calculus comes into play.
The same with Djibouti.
The Ethio-SLR MOU is a 50 year deal. Then what? 50 years is a very short time in the life a nation. SLR will soon be a country, that is dead fact. Let us say Ethiopia recognizes SLR and build a navy there. What will happen after the due date in 50 years.
Ethiopia will be dependent on SLR just as she is now on Djibouti! So, place yourself in the Ethiopian shoes.
The historical trajectory for Ethiopian permanent sea access solution is not merely to lease and rent ports and use right.
The choices are for example seek unification with Djibouti, take back Asab by peaceful or other means, find other Somali region such as puntland, Jubaland, or other to join with Ogaden as integral part of Ethiopia.
The point I am making is even the SLR-Ethiopia deal is only a short term solution and Ethiopian hesitation and deliberateness is entirely reasonable. Any hasty move we make now will sabotage the loooong historical trajectory of Ethiopian permanent necessity for maritime position.
As for Djibouti, right now, she doesn't want any deal between Ethiopia and Somalia that would threaten her current economic survival. But what would be her mediation solutions?
Djibouti should have supported SLR nationhood and collaborate with Ethiopia for a three-way development. Even better, Djibouti should have given a navy base to Ethiopia and end this whole drama a long time ago.
The problem is that it is in the Araba perception of Ethiopia as a weak, divided, powerless nation which keeps surprise them again and again.
Ethiopia is a very deceptive reality; she appears weak and fools the uninformed. But Ethiopia is a very very resilient nation and bounces back at an amazing speed.
Look at Egypt! They truly believed that Ethiopia would never be able to build the Dam. Now the Dam is finished & Egypt is going bananas!
That is my view.

Why would we in Djibouti give you a naval base what good does that do for us . What will we benefit from that .
Somalia can’t give you a sea because Somalia doesn’t do anything that hurts Djibouti ever since we are the same people
You said why doesn’t Djibouti recognise Somaliland why would we. What do we benefit from a divided Somali country
Our interest is to keep the Somali republic strong though what ever grievances issues Somalia and Somaliland have with each other they can solve themselves. We hosted the talks before between them .
See you are looking for a permanent coast nobody can give you that our brothers in hargeisa actually gave u an option but the one thing they want you can’t give them. Which is recognition in the beginning I thought Ethiopia might have recognised Somaliland for a sea outlet . But since months passed I understood that Ethiopia actually just wanted to test the waters of what permissible in the horn and what the powers of the world might say or do . Since then it stalled now I am 100 percent sure Ethiopia won’t get through with the deal . I don’t know if it is the pressure from the west or the Arab states or Somalia constant work . What ever it is Ethiopia did back down. They understood recognition to be given to Somaliland weight much more then 50 year naval sea lease. Somaliland did gamble but they lost .

Zack,
You are repeating yourself. You are not the mind of Abiy Ahmed or president Musse Bihi! You are 100% sure because your fact is your mind. Let me tell you I am not 100% sure because I am not Abiy's mind. Be humble & control your emotion. You are not the fact, remember.

Re: DJIBOUTI OPPOSED TURKEY MEDIATION!!
Djibouti hasn't said at all that it has opposed the shuttle mediation between Somalia and Ethiopia in Ankara.
it has rather said that it didn't believe that such mediation would bear fruit, which was obvious to all Somalis and anyone with a fragment of brain.
Make no mistake, it was Abiy who initially begged William Ruto to facilitate a face-to-face meeting with Somalia. This meeting, in fact, took place but not face-to-face, though Abiy hasn't informed Ethiopians about this to date.
Abiy, the clown monkey, has then preferred Turkey rather than Djibouti. And after failure in Ankara, he's now up to crying to Djibouti.

The fatal mistake Djibouti made was when she worked with Eritrea, Egypt, and Somalia to keep Ethiopia away from the Red Sea. Just remember that this fake city state survives on Ethiopian drinking water, electricity and Chat.
