Can you name a natural resource, including oil, that Ethiopia produces? Ethiopia is poor as fvck in terms of natural and intelligence resources. Fact!

Ethiopia is not a “ [resourceless]” country. In fact, Ethiopia is one of a resourceful country which has not used its potential. As far as oil being the “envy” of the world, give me a break. Oil contributed immensely to global climate change to the worst. That it will be replaced by renewable energy is a good bet.
Currently the world has 1.7 trillion barrels of oil. With the current consumption it might be gone within half a century. The large oil producing countries Saudi Arabia, Russia, and USA will sustain production for some time to come.
The smaller ones like Libya should try to change their way of living.
Selling an oil and worshipping a dictator like Gadafi almost for half a century is a thing of the past.
The future is where water is abundant. The future is where green vegetables and forests are abundant.
The future might not belong to a desert like Libya unless Libyans adapt to the changing world.

Sarcasm, I made that statement not necessarily referring about the past, but the future. I am aware oil has changed the Middle East dramatically. I am aware of that.
But if those countries that made a living selling oil do not invest to create jobs, the future will be bleak to them.
The Middle East despite having oil is one of the world region that doesn’t able to create jobs to its young generation.
This was happening When those countries sell oil with income of many billions dollars. There is no guarantee that will be typical of the future. In fact the very opposite might be true.
In general countries that aspire to change their country by discovering oil, gold, and minerals take the easy way out that should not be.
Countries which depend on the learned people of their citizens are doing great.
In general brain powers create the world wealth more than anything.
