Where ever they go, they are after Amharic and with that appear የአራዳ ልጅ instead of being considered ጅል/ፋራ አማሪኛ የማይችል.
As far as you are good in Amharic, then you can sit around and make a lot of talks around giving names to somebody, they discuss people, not idea. I was also in a university once and there were Amharic speakers who were just sitting around and making all sorts of comments about those who are working hard and trying to learn something.
It has become a custom with people from the Amharic circle.
Many Ethiopians abroad are the children of those who have never thought their children the fruit of working hard, rather how to be more clever in the daily talks of being የአራዳ ልጅ. Learning a different language requires hard work.

Their children forget amharic and adapt the language of foreign countries while the parents speak broken english

The brain has several areas that are involved in speech and language, including the left and right hemispheres:
Broca's area
Located in the left hemisphere's inferior frontal gyrus, this area is associated with speech production and articulation. It's thought to help people use words accurately and articulate ideas in both written and spoken language. However, some evidence suggests that the posterior part of Broca's area, called the pars opercularis, plays a larger role in speech production than the anterior part, called the pars triangularis.
Wernicke's area
Located in the posterior superior temporal lobe, this area is involved in language comprehension. It connects to Broca's area via a neural pathway.
Angular gyrus
This area helps people associate different types of language-related information, such as auditory, visual, or sensory information.
Temporal lobes
The dominant temporal lobe, which is usually the left side for most people, is involved in understanding language and learning and remembering verbal information. However, scientists now know that both the left and right temporal lobes are involved in recognizing speech sounds and individual words.
Cerebellum
Located at the back of the head, just above where the spinal cord attaches to the brain, this area is primarily associated with balance and movement coordination. However, it's also thought to play a role in language processing
Damage to these areas can disrupt speech or understanding, but the brain's adaptability, or neural plasticity, can help people recover these functions.

DDT has an issue of psychological nature when it comes to Amharas.
English is so much spoken throughout the world and also because it’s fairly simple to learn. (Terrible to pronounce though.)
I’m impressed that others take the trouble to learn and speak a language that’s foreign to them.
Do you know how many accents they have in the UK apart from the foreign ones and the discrimination people face on the basis of the way they speak?

DTT, why you singled out Amharas. You believe except Amharas the rest of Ethiopians who live in North America are well-versed in English ? I think it is useful not to evaluate everything from tribal angle.

I didn't single out the Amharas, I simply tried to use statistics, which is a tool to measure something we can't do so physically. If the statistics suggests otherwise, then I stand to be corrected.
BTW:, I refuted the claim that I have something against the Amhara by simply reiterating how the arguments of those who claim in the name of Amhara have effectively hurt the people, while my stand on their issues have proved the more helpful and valid argument. If in doubt, then just refer to the statistical data of how many Amhara children are out of school today in the Amhara region.
Did I call for that or was it you?

Whether you admit it, DTT, or not you are consumed with Amhara phobia. Who are those “ Amharas” who just have made good living in your brain ? The TPLF cadres. I do not say except Revelations there are any Amharas who scribble nonstop on ER daily.

How about Abere? Or, you consider him an Ethiopianst who wants to use the Amhara to spread a unitarist agenda?

Affable, let me repeat myself one more time: I have no phobia for the Amhara people, especially as people. I have family members who are married to Amhara and have got children in common, my part is Amhara. I have said this much before in here.
I do have a disdain for those who are openly claiming they are better than some section of the Ethiopian people by default. These are morons in my view.

DefendTheTruth:
I would rather be the Ethiopian ፋራ who tries rather than the Ethiopian አራዳ who talks, whether it is in Ethiopia or in the diaspora.
You can read and write. Yet, I have tried to understand your world outlook and fail to understand it time after time. I often think that something is amiss in your world outlook.
Just yesterday, after reading one of your comments, it came to mind that your world outlook is perhaps shaped by gospel starting at your childhood age and that your mind subconsciously resigns to the dictates of a doctrine instead of mustering the power to entertain a mutual or multilateral accord.
Here is a simple test to check it: Is there anyone on this forum who writes about people instead of ideas more than you do? I have asked this question a number of times.
What does your geographic association of the fluency of English say about you?
Is this the only deficit of those of us Ethiopians in the diaspora that you noticed?
A while back, somebody posted on this forum about someone else that the former called DefendTheTruth’s pastor. I listened to what the latter had to say. After listening to the man saying he was guided by providence to go around to preach, I silently asked why providence failed to show him how to create ጀርባ ማከክያ እንጨት by showing him plenty of trees around him.
All of us have the capacity to learn. Plenty of us need some sparks to get started and keep going. I have yet to fully understand what role providence plays in all of it.
