Is it because camels can survive without water for days, just like the resilient people of Eritrea?

The turtle would be a perfect symbol for Eritrea, as it aligns perfectly with Isaias's ideology. Have faith and remain optimistic that we will eventually reach our destination, even if it takes longer than expected. Our determination will prevail, ensuring that future generations will one day get there.

And camel can survive the longest with out drinking water and it was our transportation mode during our struggle while the coward of Ethiopia was being supported by the Soviet and the USA tanks and fighter jets and tortoise lives longer than all animals.
That is the definition of Eritreanism and those two animals are yes the symbol of Eritrea .
We don’t freaking build superficial high rise buildings or roads which can benefit 15% of our population in a jiffy while our 85% of our population is starving like you rats.
We do things on our pace even if it takes us long like the tortoise for the benefit of all our population.

--- Camel is associated with kneeling down and submissiveness. If someone wants to sit on her back or load on her the word ብረኪ is enough. Unfortunately, the Eritrea province historically been the soft spot enemies used to infiltrate and attack Ethiopia. Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Britain easily exploited the submissiveness of the people of this area. They did not put up resistance; Italy, for instance used ብረኪ style putting her boots for 5 decades on the necks of Eritrea people. Whether by accident or intention why Shabia used camel very well tells kneeling down and submissiveness. You might as well think why Ethiopia's symbol is Lion.

--- The other reason is could be that camel is a very common animal in the province indicating the aridness of the area. If there were other popular wild life or resource they would have used that. I think I heard that Eritrea export camel and camel meat to Saudi Arabia.
Camel as to me is not telling good. First camel meat is forbidden in Christianity, it is unholy. Second, Eritrea is not fertile or does not get enough rain; agriculture is uncommon.
