Kebena Wereda was created by Meles at almost exact time he was busy organizing Silte to break away from Gurage. Since it's too small by itself, under 18,000 people, overwhelming majority of which is a subsistence farmer, to be a viable local government on its own, 16 Gurage villages were taken from Abeshge Gurage and added to Kebena's 7 villages. Kebena has a total of 23 villages. 66%= 34, 3200 of Kebena Wereda population are Abeshge Gurages who do not speak Kebena. They have protested mistreatments by Kebena Wereda many times and demand release from Kebena to re-join Gurage. All fell on deaf ears. SNNPR emphasized roots unity. Hadiya, Mareqo, Halaba, Kebena, etc. call each other brothers of the Cushitic family.
Now Kebena is going to impose its language and latin scripts on majority Gurage population forced into Kebena Wereda.

Silte alleged that it's 99.9% Muslim community while Gurage, especially Sodo and & 7bet are Orthodox with non-existent political reform movement as result of which political views remained archaic.
I am not sure whether publicly untold similarity of reasons exists for Kebena's unhappiness with Gurage. Kebena is 100% Muslim as well.
If they feel threatened by their perception or action of some Gurage Christian extremists, brainwashed by their moms or dads, let the Gurage villages go free and create a Kebena Wereda without Gurages.
