Somaliland has a better case for independence than Eritrea

Post by Dama » 06 Jul 2024, 07:41

Somaliland has never joined the Somali Republic officially. It rejected the 1960 referendum that the Somali Republic constitution.
Eritrea's Unity Party campaigned to join Ethiopia in elections and won majority seat in parliament and Eritrea officially joined Ethiopia in a federation. The losing parties are not known to oppose the federation. It's social groups, mainly the Muslims. who opposed the federation.

Why has the imperialist powers refused to recognize it but facilitated Eritrea's separation from Ethiopia?

Sounds a translation from an alien language possibly spoken in an alien univers; thus, whatever bullsh'it was to be uttered is lost in translation, rendering the scribble completely meaningless.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me what you mean by this.

Don't worry about being wrong; we're not always correct. I would correct you, but please try to explain the above a bit.

It is a fact that Somali Land has a better case to be an independent country than Eritrea.
The reality on the ground today is that Somali Landers are hard working, nonviolent and have a big respect for Ethiopians. The road to a prosperous Somali Land is wide open.
Eritreans are helplessly dependent on Ethiopia. Their relationship with Ethiopia is hostile and seen by Ethiopians as deceptive and parasites. They dropped everything a new country should pursue and preoccupied themselves 24/7 on Ethiopian issues.

As you're shying away from explaining your bullsh'it and therefore are ducking, let me educate you a bit on this issue.

FYI, no referendum has ever taken place in Somalia, leave alone one in 1960. In addition, Somaliland, which used to be called "British Somaliland Protectorate" and the south which was known as Somalia Italiana/Italian Somalia united to form the Somalia of today. Therefore, the north didn't join the south.

Moreover, the constitution, known as the 1960 constitution, was written after the two parts had already completed their unification process. The prime minister at the time was in charge of the drawing and writing of the constitution, and this prime minister was from the north. Therefore, it was not a southern constitution upon which northerners were compelled to submit to.

The word "rejected" has no place in this context, as there wasn't anything to either reject of accept.

It's not wise to scribble a bunch of words that do not make any sense.

You seem very ignorant and always arrogant. Yes there was a constitutional referendum in 1961 , and majority of Somalilanders voted against it. While the south voted Yes overwhelmingly. The reason we call you wanlaweyn is because an unusual number of peaple voted there , far more than it's estimated population. The whole thing was shady. In addition to that , the act of union has never been ratified. From legal point of view somaliland never United with Somalia. even the African union fact finding mission acknowledged this.

Hmm...

What is wrong if they choose to say, "Ethiopia or death, knowing that Ethiopia is forever!" Why do you want to deny them the choice by laughing at their choice?

Are you a moron or pretending to be one. When the Ethiopian Prime Minister declares that he will take our ports by force, then don't you think it is the duty of every Eritrean to be vigilant and do whatever it takes to destroy such imperialist sentiments? Our forces went deep into Agameland to break the Agame spine because Agames challenged our sovereignty. And believe me, if your clownish Prime Minister persists in his delusions, the Eritrea has the right to unseat that [deleted]! Eritreans did not fight for 30 years to expel Ethiopian occupiers of their country so that an upstart clown can challenge their sovereignty.

The case of Somaliland and Eritrea is different yet the same the only difference really is . Eritrea was forced by the United Nations where as Somaliland joined willingly and drafted an act of union to unite with Somalia . Though there were unionist party in Eritrea but Eritrea wasn’t given a proper chance to determine their future in the 1950s. The one thing though is that Eritreans understood how politics worked and diplomacy and they made Ethiopia sign its 1993 referendum papers . Where as our neighbours in the Somaliland region looking for outside assistance to break away . And the world isn’t interested in that which makes them be in a sort of a Limbo predicament indeed .
