Ethiopia sought and obtained from Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya, political and diplomatic covers, at the UN, AU and EU, anywhere else. Mengistu first obtained Nigeria's diplomatic cover. Mengistu also obtained ANC's diplomatic cover by huge support for its anti-apartheid struggle.
Meles continued to retain the diplomatic supports of these two Sub-Sahara Africa's most populous Nigeria and industrial giant of Africa, South Africa.
Bas*tard PM Abiy Ahmed added Kenya to the list for the same reason.

The windfall for SA has been thus far, to my knowledge,economic in the form of the Ministry of Education popularizing South African universities among students of types. Bloody Abiy was trained in Cyber Security by a SA university. No girls, perhaps due to the social reality of South Africans are not new to fair-colored skin girls like Ethio/Eri girls.
The windfall for Kenya has been huge. The construction of the Moyale-Eldoret highway of a whopping 888km in length. Asphalt paved all weather highway. A 15hr 54m drive was built by Abiy Ahmed's generous offer when he visited president Uhuru immediately after he came to power.
Money talks. From individuals to media to politicians, all sing "Hail to Ethiopia". Including Mbeki, former President of SA. They don't care how we the citizens of Ethiopia are treated by the our government that sacrifices our monies and our liberties.
