Amara since 1270 a.d.

Amara that had long suffered in the oppressive, suppressive and discriminatory hands of Axum followed by Lalibela liberated itself in 1270 by the shrewd and tactical leadership of Yihunu Amlak with the the support of the valor and the self-less bravery of the Gafat Gurage.
Sadly, Amara weakened by Galla invasion of central and northern Ethiopia, Oromo assimilated most of the Gafats creating the Meccha Tulema clan of the Oromo. That's is how the small Oromo tribe of Borana on border with Somali expanded, by land dispossession of other tribes, annihilating their cultures and languages and replacing them with that of Oromo. This is happening as we speak with Gurages of Chebo and Zway.
Amara, in the past 754 years, built itself as the most successful ethnic group of Ethiopia. It's language and cultures are widely shared by most Ethiopians, except perhaps in the developmentally retarded sections of Ethiopia such as Ogaden.
Among those who love to share Amara language, for their businesses and political propaganda, are the important tribes of Ethiopia, namely, the Oromo and Tigrey.
These two ethnic groups are trying their max to diminish or erase the Amara post-colonial success after Lalibela and Axum with the obvious effect so that they will share the resources of Ethiopia with or without Amara.
Many Amaras I talked to told me that they had no problem sharing Ethiopia with any Ethiopians. They said that Oromo and Tigrey hate Amara, of course out of jealousy, to completely erase Amara power which they said justifies their resistance to OLF and TPLF is a matter of existential struggle.
