Kebena is a Cushitic speaking minority in Gurage who settled on Gurage lands about 200 years migrating from around Hadiya. the defunct SNNPR, the offshoot of the EPRDF tasked to govern southwest Ethiopia including Gurage created the Kebena administrative Wereda within Gurage. 23 villages made Kebena Wereda. 16 of which are Gurage majority, only 7 are Kebena majority. these 16 unanimously voted and demonstrated not to be included in the Kebena Wereda due to the violence they suffered and mistreatment by the Kebena Wereda officials and armed Kebena thugs. many reported their homes, shops and lands forcibly possessions by the Kebenas. Gurage gov officials seems to be unwilling or unable to end the Kebena thugs terrorism.
These 7 Kebena majority villages are about 10km away from Welkite. over 95% Welkite residents are Gurages from all corners. The rest are are Amara, Tigray, oromo, Welaita, Kembata, Sidamo, etc. However, Kebena governs Welkite.
Now its going to force Latin scripts on Gurage majority.
