I wonder what will happen to millions of Addis Abebe's when the birr is devalued in the coming weeks to half its current value? Prices of basic comodities will skyrocket while incomes (basically salaries) will stay put! Flashy lights cannot hide the horror of the daily grind of most of the people!

But Abiy's PP seems to saying "let them feast on the lights!"

There are 5 million Ethiopians languishing in camps for internally displaced people (IDP) in Ethiopia. The population of many African countries is less than that. Over 80% of Ethiopians live the life of a dog. And you think that shining night streets in Addis are the measure of progress! Stop being a condom for illiterate leaders like Abiy. In my view, the greatest self-reliance lesson you can teach any mature enough Ethiopian, or Eritrean for that matter, is this: “The kingdom of God is within you.”

Perhaps because of the fact of history rooted in ancient times, Ethiopians are generally deeply religious. It is more common than not that Ethiopians literally believe that superstition provides for their needs. This has the risk of many delegating the kingdom of God within each one of them to without. A crucial question here is how many have been teaching it literally and watching the literal teaching indifferently.

I have little expertise about providence and spirituality. I am trying to understand them.

Nonetheless, I imagine that the more Ethiopians understand that the kingdom of God is within each one of them, the more independent they become from delegating their own needs to without.

A simple survey of the proportion of those in need that deeply understand the value of the kingdom of God within each one of them would be indicative of the very reason they are in need. My estimation is that it is shockingly low. I wish to be proven wrong.
