The Hague, Netherlands — Brigade Nhamedu, a group accused of inciting riots during Eritrean cultural celebration events in the Hague, Rijswijk, and other cities in the Netherlands, is a 'terrorist organization' that must be banned, says a report made by Netherlands' Public Prosecution Service (OM) that is prosecuting members of the Brigade Nhamedu terrorist group.
“Our office has received numerous reports of alleged terrorist crimes committed by the Brigade Nhamedu terrorist organization and we are conducting investigations and holding the group accountable for crimes they committed against a peaceful community of people,” said a spokesperson for the National Public Prosecutor's Office.
Several members of the Brigade Nhamedu are currently being prosecuted for violence and aggravated assault against innocent civilians.
The attacks carried out by the terrorist group targeted Eritrean-Dutch communities, Churches, including Baptism services, throughout the Netherlands, said the Prosecution report.
The lengthy indictment drafted by the prosecutor office reveals criminal acts of intimidation and violence by members of the internationally operating Brigade Nhamedu "terrorist organization."
The declaration contains a long list of alleged crimes of which the Brigade Nhamedu is guilty of, such as physical assault with terrorist intent, incitement of violence, calls for beheading and threatening Eritreans because of their race and/or religion.

The Most Destructive Damage
Sources close to the investigation say, members of the Brigade Nhamedu terrorist group were actively involved in the violent riots on February 17 this year in The Hague, when an Eritrean cultural celebration event was held at the Opera venue on Fruitweg street in Den Haag, Netherlands. The group used rocks and sticks to attack the Police, firefighters and journalists, and set several cars and a tour bus on fire in an attempt to disrupt the event, following calls by the group's leaders to hang or behead Eritreans attending the event.
The violence which continued for hours also caused hundreds of thousands of Euro in damages to the venue and the Police force.
A number of the rioters in Fruitweg, who last week appeared in court are facing lengthy prison sentences, and they are said to be prominent members of the alleged terrorist group Brigade Nhamedu.
Attorney Richard Korver, who filed the criminal charges against the terrorist group on behalf of the Dutch-Eritrean community in Netherlands said, "we made these reports public after the prosecutor office brought charges against the group, supported by several hundred pages of evidence showing the group's complete disregard for the law by resorting to acts of terror in their attempt to prevent the peaceful Eritrean community from holding their cultural celebration events.
The Attorney added, "the group violated the fundamental rights of Eritreans and Dutch citizens of Eritrean decent to freedom of association, peaceful assembly, including the ability to come together and hold peaceful events. The Brigade Nhamedu terrorist group claims it wants to free Eritrea from the current Eritrean government, yet the group flies the flag of the Tigray region, which is part of neighboring Ethiopia."
Tigray has been a flashpoint in a complex regional conflict in Ethiopia for decades.

A member of the Eritrean community who wishes to remain anonymous said: "The conflict in Tigray is now being fought by the Brigade Nhamedu terrorist group in Europe. The Tigrayans are using violence to prevent Eritreans, who have been in the Netherlands for decades, from celebrating their culture. This undermines the basic principles of human rights.”
Perpetrators Portraying Themselves as "Victims"
Another member of the Eritrean community in Netherlands (FEN) also said, “All the Eritreans attending the cultural events are portrayed by the Brigade Nhamedu terrorist group as "supporters of the Eritrean government," which is completely false. Eritreans across the whole political spectrum attend the welcoming and all-inclusive cultural events that are true reflections of our Eritrean diversity that goes beyond our different political views, which we embrace as a source of our collective strength."
He continued, "these perpetrators make these false allegations in order to present themselves as "victims", hence justify their violent actions, terrorists threats and intimidation against the real victims. The evidence presented in court shows who the real perpetrators are, and we are confident that, the rule of law will prevail over the law of the jungle to forever dismantle the terror group that has wrecked havoc in our communities."
