These are some Eritrean names that have connections to the Amhara. Filipos Woldeyohannes Eshete, Zersenay Tadese, Abraha Kassa, and many more... I also met a man named Abera Lema Getahun from Kunama, Eritrea, who was a rental vehicle driver designated for me.

Families all around the world have followed the trends and names of official government languages of the time and environment, the trends of both Christian and Islam religions. Naming has been an inspired practice, not an educated one.

I have heard that in Wallaga, it used to be that if an elementary school teacher or Director named Abraham arrived in town, many male children born after his arrival would be given that name. You can do some quick study if what I heard was wrong.

I have once met a Chinese named Charles.

What makes you a hypocrite of the highest degree is when you pick on Andargachew Tsige Tufa and keep Abitew Kebede Tufa when it comes to naming.

Do you know why many people in Wallaga who have Agnua and Gumuz heritages choose Borana names over those in the other languages? If it were an educated practice, how are they transferring their other heritages to their children?

Just got back to this thread and read your response, which makes my point.

I have never blamed either Obbo Nagawo or Obbo Lata for choosing the names Yohannis for their children. I assume that they were inspired by the Bible.

Are you now trying to argue that Obbo Lata was forced to name his children Yohannis and Abraham? If so, was he forced to do so by the Missionaries or by Atse Menelik?

You have implied that Obbo Lata was forced to impose the name Yohannis on his son. I assumed that Obbo Lata was inspired by the Protestant religion he accepted from the Missionaries in the aftermath of Adwa and named his son Yohannis.

So, is it what you implied here or my assumption for a long time that is correct?

In the event that you can substantiate what you implied here, why have you been watching for a long time when the imposition continued for a long time and grew like a wildfire in some corners of Ethiopia? This is assuming that you weren’t complicit with the growth of the imposition like a wildfire in those corners.
