My sense is that something big is in the making. The Ethiopian airlines makes business decisions and its cargo flight expansion means that some big time economic activities are in the offing. Also I think Addis Abeba is going to use Puntland port for some critical good and use cargo to bring it to Addis. This kinds of economic relations are more potent than the shifty political drama. For the international community, the Puntland move will give the needed oxygen to Somaliland's recognition. The end of Somalia's claim over SLR is becoming more likely.

This is miraclous for Ethiopia. Now all of Northern Somalia is in alliance with the Ethiopian Government this alliance can help military HOA Confederation of the Horn as well anti-al shabab operations in Puntland.... Somalia should deal with Al Shabab herself.

Puntland is more of a military benefit for Ethiopia than Economic or trade. Ethiopia needs Somaliland Coastlines and Highwats more as its closer to Addis Ababa

Ethiopian Navy can station ships in Puntland as Northern Somalia (Puntland and Somaliland) begin integration process into the Ethiopian Confederation

Next I think a war will break out between Puntland and Somalia to finalize the deal.

he is not playing his card well. He was poorly advised by Egypt and proxy Eritrea against his own interests. Somalia will lose badly.
Where as Puntland and Somali Landers are out smarting everyone in the HOA. We will see what Kenya will come up with.
Mega projects such as modern rail ways, highways, electricity etc between Ethiopia and Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya will change the region.

Thin gs have already changed dramatically. Consider the impact of Lamu port. As we speak the direction of the Horn geopolitics is shifting toward East and South away from problem infested northern red sea. Somaliland and Puntland are dead serious about developing their sea coast economies and cities. Ethiopia is irreplaceable resource for them in terms of electricity, raw materkial, population and security. Kenya is in the same position. what Djibouti will do we shall see. As far Eritrea, let them manage their with with Arab friends. The trajectory of Ethiopian commerce and trade has decisively shifted to east and south. For all these to materialize Orormo elites need to change direction and move into the standard Ethiopian politics and Ethiopian character.

As far as political integration such as confederation etc it all premature.
