This would be normal in any Western city: After all, 100,000,000 birr is less than a million US dollars. But it is extremely vulgar in Ethiopia where about 70% of Addis residents live the life of dog. HorseAss may imagine that this house is a sign of the cleanliness and modernity of Addis, but the reality is, it is a symbol of the decay of Ethiopian society, of the gap between the few who can afford such a mansion and the multitudes of wretches who exist in the vast slums of the city!
