A new educational initiative has been launched at the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, also known as RUDN University, that will offer scholarships to hundreds of students from Ghana.
The five-year scheme was finalized at a ceremony in the West African nation’s capital, Accra, on Friday between RUDN and the Asian African Consortium (AAC), a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies, a Ghanaian private firm.
Under the agreement, 120 beneficiaries will attend RUDN each year beginning from 2024 to pursue degrees in various fields, including agriculture, information technology, waste management, and climate change, until 2029.
Ghana’s Parliamentary Speaker Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, who attended the signing event, hailed the move as the “beginning of great things to happen,” adding that Moscow had always been a friend to Accra.
Ghanaian Education Minister Yaw Osei Adutwum described the partnership as novel and unique as it involved an actor from the private sector leading the charge in such a large-scale higher education scholarship.
“We try to link tertiary education in Africa with industrial companies in the way that the education system and education process support the development of specialists who can seamlessly go into employment with the right skill set of theoretical and practical knowledge,” said Masamba Kakh, a representative of RUDN University.
In November 2022, Moscow increased the scholarship quota for Ghanaian students to study medicine and engineering at Russian universities from 75 to 110. The move fulfilled a commitment made at the first Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi in 2019 to strengthen scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and African nations, including Ghana.
Last June, Russian Ambassador to Ghana Sergei Berdnikov announced that more than 900 Ghanaians are presently pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist’s programs in Russia; over 300 of them have full scholarships.
At the ceremony in Accra on Friday, Berdnikov pledged to ensure that documents for the RUDN-AAC scholarship recipients are processed swiftly at the embassy to allow them to travel for their studies.
The Executive Chairman of Jospong Group, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, also declared his company’s readiness to offer employment opportunities for the students after the completion of their education in Russia to “develop Ghana together.”

During the derg era, the then soviet union offered scholarships for hundreds of Ethiopians among them of course Eritreans. Many have acquired their first degree at Lumumba university but most of them have not returned to Ethiopia rather they sought asylum in west Europe.Deqi-Arawit wrote: ↑05 Feb 2024, 10:12

Here in central Europe, they applied for jobs but they were rejected. They were told, that their degree level does not meet their standard.
As a reult, most of them ended up working in McDonalds etc. Others emigrated to north america.
P. S. An Eritrean told us the following:
He said they were considering us as bush people or monkeys. The first day when the house master was showing us our rooms, he took us to the toilet and explained to us how to sit on the seat and once we are over with our shiit, he showed us how to use the toilet tissues. He said, this made us laugh out loud. The dude was surprised when he saw us laughing.

That's right, degrees in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and medicine from Russia and even Ukraine are well-respected in the West.

The Junk doesn't think in these terms? I remember they dispatched dozens of Eritrean students to the united Arab emirates to study how to examine people who catch Malaria?
The problem with the junk is, Just like any agame, he has neither vision nor dream, all what he cares is about control and how days goes by without incidents to his rule.
For instance, the penetration of internet in North Korea is non existent yet the country has TOP computer science experts who could wreck havoc to the system of their adversary and the only reason why they have such high talented students is because the regime, nurture them to be one. They are well feed and well taken care. in contrast, the regime in Eritrea take pride that all Eritreans are equal in poverty and ignorance.

Guys,
Back in the Second World War, it was the Russian technology that made innovative creation in the West industrial complex, including the US. Helicopters, fighting air crafts such as the P-47 were were built by Russians who immigrated to the US. What kept the Russians back, was the communism manifesto that killed the sprit of innovation. A bunch of old idiots come to power, and destroy the fabric of innovation. The longest super power country in the world are the Chinese. Unfortunately, idiots like Mao and his followers almost destroyed the fabric of innovations for over eighty years. Fortunately, the innovative culture is feasting on renaissance all over again.
The Russians need to learn from the freshly reborn country known as China.

The Chinese learned from the mistakes of the Russians, they maintained and preserved the communist ideology at least politically speaking but they embraced capitalism and become more wild capitalist than Americans and the results is what we are witnessing today in China. prosperous nation which is about to take America to become Number one in every aspect.
The Man who opened China to embrace capitalism
The Same man claimed that Gorbachov might look smart but the fact is, he is stupid. and Remember Gorbachev is the man who opened Russia and disintegrated the Soviet Union because he was a coward and sold the country for the price of Pizza Hut.

Come on you russia admirers, the GDP of russia is less than that of a USA state California. It is similar to that of of a european country such as Portugal.
Neither russia nor china can match uncle sam's land be it politcally, economically, militarily and what have you albeit it ain't my wish.
