Many people said and wrote over many years that aid is a weapon, this allegation has been reaffirmed once again in Ethiopia. No doubt about that.
The basic tenet of aid is to give you something you can live on for a while, never intended to support you that you going to support yourself. Ethiopia is a clear testimony of this.
Every time a semblance of drought or shortage of food items they start the over-blown reporting and over dramatization of the actual situation on the ground.
Look at the following video: they said on the title the alleged "current hunger in Tigray pales that of the well-documented and much circulated famine of the 1980s in Ethiopia".
Then they failed to present a single image to support their grand allegations. They don't know any sort of an embarrassment to their personality or institutions.
The following article from the well-known long arm of neo-colonialists also strengthen the same stand-point of the above points.

The question is why now?
They know it what should be unsettling them so at once but Ethiopia is going to feed itself, even if today there could be some section of the communities may face hard-ship of finding enough to eat.
There are many causes for that, but those are not related to government policy of eradicating dependence on aid.
They know well that, that is the reason why they went all the way to lobbying FAO not to award PM Abiy Ahmed the recent prestigious Agricola medal.
Double Shame!
Ethiopia will going to feed itself and PM Abiy Ahmed has received the award, while possibly some on the scene itself burning inside out.
