Abiy has no money. Ethiopia is war torn and its economy destroyed. Abiy wants the 3.5 billion usd loan from IMF. This won't happen if he goes to war with Somalia. The US backs Somalia and its sovereignty.

It's not the US that owns Somalia or decides on who should get a portion of Somalia.

This is turning out to be a big farce now. I wouldn't be surprised if Ethiopia's deal with Somaliland doesn't materialize.

Putting all other reasons aside, this farce won't materialise due to the simple fact that the inhabitants in the area where the mindless breakaway administration wants to grant the purported coastal land to Ethiopia are totally against this absurdity and would fight for tooth and nail.

The US policy for Ethiopia is for the country to be ruled by people who hail from a minority ethnic group who need the military and diplomatic support of world powers to lord over the majority, hence effectively placing the country under Neo-colonialism.
Abiy, despite being an absolute Prima Donna of all things BANDAism, he happens to hail from the country's largest ethnic group, which therefore disqualifies him from becoming a trusty puppet because of the enormous challenges he could face from his ethnic base.
There are good slaves, but none are better than the agame slaves.
