I can see some people trying to support Abiy with what is doing. I understand it is their god given right. However, why is it, we are always hungry, dependent and waiting for handouts? why? Every Ethiopian needs to answer this question, it must be confronted. What do you need to grow food and feed your people. I hate to break it to you but, you need water, fertile soil, land and people.

Water: the nick name of Ethiopia is the water tower of Africa, we have abundant fresh water than any African country, if not in the world.

So what is our problem? why are we hungry, why are we dependent? Why are we beggars? Why?
Because we are lazy, and we are suffering from African mentality syndrome. I could be wrong, but I think Ethiopia has the youngest people in Africa. Why not get the youth and go all out Agriculture? produce food and not only able to feed our people but the whole horn Africa. As you know that I am a huge fan of Eritrea and Eritreans, I envy them how they handle their business. Case in point, right now there is hunger and drought in Tigray, but Eritrea is next Tigray and they share the same metrology and rain fall. Why is there drought in Tigray but not in Eritrea? because they have done their homework, and they saved every drop of rain. Instead of whining and b!ching about ports, why not feed our people? I understand you need a visionary leader, not a leader brags about his skills in begging. I get that; however, people get a government what they deserve. Let me reiterate my point and my inquiry, why is Ethiopia, suffering from hunger, begging and handouts, why?

A good question with a complicated answer. Perhaps would require writing an extensive book on this particular topic.
Part of it is, 1. The constant internal conflicts and 2. A deliberate plan to keep the country impoverished. Ethiopia is a neo colonial entity, created by the european elites to serve their interests in the Horn of Africa. It is meant to be kept dependent on aid, and if not, kept in perpetual conflict to ensure that it's unable to develop and become self sufficient. It's a very complex issue and honestly, the situation may be hopeless. I hope that I'm wrong. Eritrea has it easier because it's a lot easier to manage a small country than it is to manage a big county. It's like comparing parenting 2 kids to parenting 10 kids. Not to mention Eritrean nationalism developed to accommodate its diversity as opposed to Ethiopian nationalism which worked hard to destroy all cultures except for one, not to mention many other things at the Inception of the Ethiopian state (such as, appropriation of land that led to poverty and hunger).

Mom and dad grew up mostly in Adoola/Kebre Mengist but both of their fathers are from Jimma originally. Hence the name Sadacha (derives from the Oromo word Sadi which is the number 3/sost) which is a famous sub clan that lives in Jimma. They in turn are apart of the bigger Oromo clan, Macca/Macha/, which lives in Wallaga, Jimma, Illubaor, Jimma, and in smaller numbers in finfinne/Addis and benishangul.

Regarding south Africa being a neo colonial state, you may be right, I never studied their history. But let's be fair, their countries far more developed than ours. Neoncoloniaism is pretty much an indirect way of conquering a nation, through an allied group of elites. Which in this case would be Menelik and his army.

America and Western Europe have no interest in modernizing Ethiopia but China does.

Now Ethiopia is in huge debt to China and IMF. China gave Ethiopia 2 years of additional time to repay. China mostly invested in Ethiopia during EPRDF era.

Ethiopia doesn't have the right resources to be developed into a powerhouse. Agriculture is not enough. Ethiopia would need oil or uranium it also needs to be developed properly across the state.

Of course, the west will finance the governments, not the people. It gives tplf, abiy, mengistu (USSR/Russia did), and etc, billions, while the masses remain poor as ever. It gave tplf 30 billion or so, and that is exactly how much left the country; 30 billion, to the offshore, tplf bank accounts.
Ethiopia has agriculture potential, plenty of water to generate excess electricity to export, can become a manufacturing hub, there is a lot of natural gas there in ogaden and elsewhere most likely-but of course, without the right govt in place to exploit it and ensure the citizens benefit; it'll be stuck there forever.

it may be complicated however not impossible. All Ethiopia needs is a visionary leader who can push thing through without this BS parliament and BS human rights. Ethiopia needs not democracy but equality and fair social justice. For instances, Oromo burn down all the manufacturing sectors during the end of TPLF. The reason they burned all those manufacturing sites is because the people didn't believe those manufacturing didn't belong to them but to someone other. The reason Eritrea is doing so well and peaceful coexistence is because in Eritrea, there is visionary leader, there is no BS democracy, fake election, however there is equality and fair, equitable social justice. This is the reason why Eritreans love their country despite all the hostilities, sanctions and isolation Eritrea has endured by the west and the US. So, to solve Ethiopian complex problems is by having a strong and visionary leader. Have national miliary service, destroy the exitance constitution and draft a new one. Forget the so-called BS parliament, it is a waste of resources and encourages corruption. Get rid of the BS election. Above all, corruption must be eradicated at all costs. Ethiopia needs no democracy but equality, just like Eritrea.

Ethiopia and most African countries share the lazy mentality and are dependent. If the truth needs to be told, then, Ethiopia has no reason to go hungry and begging. Ethiopia alone not only can feed her people but can feed the whole east Africa and the middle east. If the truth needs to be told, DRC can feed the whole Africa and can provide every chemical element, name it, DRC has it, not only Africa but the world. And finally name one country, in exception of Eritrea that don't receive budgetary aid and food aid from the west and the US. Case in point, Ethiopia recevies 62% of her budget through budgetary aid from the waste and the US. 62% man.....
