Ethiopia has the right to recognize Somaliland - intimidating her is unlawful. Those doing this are gangster nations.
Recognizing and unrecognizing are binary choices proposed to any sovereign country. And making either of the choices is the sole right of any country. However, bullying is an unlawful behavior that completely undermines the validity and legitimacy of any institution that assumes it can grant or revoke. However, it shall also be clear there is no accreditation body when it comes to the quest for sovereignty and independency of any population. Only the people of that territory matters. Most people as well as the international gangster believes laws and treaties are immutable. No, not treaty or law is permanent it is only temporal and relative.
The fact that Ethiopia recognized Somaliland and understood the decades of their dream is appropriate.

ስለዚህ እጅግ ትልቁ ያቢይ አላዋቂዎች ስህተት የሱማሌላድ እንደ አገር ማወቅና የባህር በር ጉዳይ ማያያዛቸው ነው ። እኔና አንተ እዚህ እሩቅ ቦታ ሆነን ያየነውን መንገድ እንኳ ማየት አልቻሉም። ማለትም የሶማሌላንድ አገርነትና የኢትዮጵያ ወደብ ፍላጎት የተለያዩ ነገሮች ስለሆኑ አቢይ ማድረግ የነበረበት ከሁሉ አስቀድሞ ሶማሌላንድን እንደ አገር አውቆ ቁጭ ማለት ነበር ።
ከዚያም የኢትዮጵያ አቋም የሚከተሉ አገሮች አባብሎ እና የሱማሌላንድ አገርነት እየሰረጸ ክሄደ በኋላ የአዳልና ኢሳ እና ሌሎችም ባለ ጥቅም የሱማሌላንድ ክላን ባላባቶች በገንዘብና ጥቅማጥቅም ከደለለ በኋላ ነበር የወደብ ጉዳይ ማንሳት የነበረበት ። የወረሙማ እረኞቹ መንግስት ይህን ያክል ርቆ ያስባል ማለት ሕልም ነው ።
የሱማሌ ካልቸር የክላን፣ የገንዘብ የመሬት ፖለቲካ ነው። ከታች እስከ ላይ ያሉት የክላን አባቶችን ያልያዘ በሱማሌ ካልቸር ወስጥ መመላለስ አይችልም ።
ስለዚህ አው ያልከው ትክክል ነው፣ ኢትዮጵያ የሱማሌን አገርነት የማወቅ መብት አላት ። አቢይ ያደረገው ያንን አይደለም ። ያን አድርጎ ቢሆን ዛሬ ክርክሩ በኢትዮጵያ መብት ላይ ይሆን ነበር ። ያም ባለማድረጉ ዛሬ ክርክሩ በኢትዮጵያ ወራሪነት ላይ ሆነ !

Ethiopia can recognize Somali Land. That would not change anything for Somali Land, unless powerful nations follow that path of recognition to Somali Land. That will not happen. Recognition based on internal interest is very much a violation of the sovereignty of Somalia. Abbiy is just trying to quell internal problems such as the Amhara rebellion against his government. Abbiy wants to keep Ethiopian integrity under Ethnic federalism that is dominated by the Oromos. All that navy mantra is a farce. Ethiopia can not afford a navy, based on a leased port. What Ethiopia needs is to import and export goods at a lower cost as much as possible. For that to happen, Ethiopia needs to import and export goods through Djibouti, Somalia, Somali Land and Kenya. Port Sudan is a bit far, Assab is not equipped to handle the services, Massawa, I am not sure. However, Abbiy thinks that he is the smartest person he ever met.
That kind of thinking is dangerous for the Ethiopian State that he very much inherited to rule.
