A message to Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia from Lughaye coastal town.

The town was recently named by Ridwan Hussein to be a potential site for Ethiopian Naval facility, negotiated with Muse Bihi of #Somaliland.
Local gunmen said they do not approve Ethiopia coming to their land and sea. They said they will fight them if “ Abiy and his Oromo people come to our land and sea ”
They also said they do not recognize #Somaliland President, but they do recognize the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
They rhetorically asked if Somaliland became a selling market for sea and land ?
They also said the sea does not belong to specific Somali clan, such as #Isse who live the areas, but to all Somali people. Muse Bihi clan, Isaq clan, and his sub-clan, Habar-Awal, do not live in the area, creating another dimension of conflict.
Muse Bihi may have anticipated revolt like that seen in Sool region, and as such chose to use Ethiopia to quell that uprising and use Ethiopia to re-gain Sool region, hence the multi-sectoral partnership as envisioned in the memorandum of the understanding signed by Somaliland and Ethiopia leaders in January 1st, 2024.
