Both adal and Ifat sultanetes where based in somaliland and Ethiopia. We never shared system with Somalia. Their Ajuuran sultanate Never reached our territory. The Italians invaded us briefly in world war 2. But we expelled them. Somaliland and Somalia never shared anything before 1960. Even our clans rarely interacted.

The act of union is not ratified. So even the legality of that union is null and void. Somaliland is an independent nation , Somalia is just barking. We do what's good for our peaple.
