The Convulsed World (Politics)

I heard today on BBC the news that Ukraine has started to celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December abandoning its hitherto practice of celebrating the same on the 7th of January, like it did for centuries. The report said. Wow, I replied! I was taken aback and taken over by the amazement of what a convulsed world we are living in.
I asked myself if the spiritual world overrides over our political world or the other way round. Many of us pray in the mane of God, weather it is in politics or elsewhere.
If indeed our spiritual world overrides over our other aspects of life for centuries, then what on earth will entitle or even bring to the idea of legislating on our own age old practice of communicating with our Creator using the title of politics?
I can't stop wondering what this world is left with by now, where it should be heading to on this course?
A young man who assumed a political presidency of a nation that celebrated Christmas for centuries before just few years daring to legislate (sign into legislation) of how and when the subjects should celebrate their spiritual life or practice? Interfere with the affairs of the nation's spiritual world and connection with their own Creator?
How on earth?
Is this not denying the existence of the Almighty itself? I can't stop wondering myself still.
