Cool. How popular was Bob Dylan back then and how did you first become exposed to the music
It's a timly music that is suitable for oromuma but yet very old

What do you expect! My Generation grew up on revolutionary and protest music, poetry and literature. I have known Dylan since the late 1970s. I had in fact the opportunity to go to his concert after he became less radical. There is not an American poet or protest musician I love more than Dylan. If you want to compare him with an Ethiopian artist - the closest will be Tedy Afro - musician and poet. Remember, if you search for Dylan under poetry, you will not find him, He is a country singer. But his lyrics are so deep and poetic, he was given the Nobel in Literature.

It’s timeless!

Fascinating! I was not even born in late 70's but thank you for the background information. As you know I am always open to learn from seasoned but intellectual Ethiopians like yourself. If you can compare him with Tedi Afro, it is revealed to me that your video has even a much deeper meaning to the context of oromumas scramble and its imminent demise. But I wonder what Bob exactly stood for, or who he was exactly opposing.

in the 60s & 70s he opposed the Vietnam war, supported the civil rights movement & you can consider him a justice advocate. But most of all he is a social and cultural critique. I consider him a social philosopher, a thinker. He was not a crass commercial artist. He was not even bother to show up at the Nobel ceremony. That is Bob Dylan - simply authentic artist just like Teddy!union wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 23:30Fascinating! I was not even born in late 70's but thank you for the background information. Ouch! He was my type of guy! From your descrbtion, he also sounds like the Bob Marley type!; not so much into this classicism and some social or corporate title per se, just doing his thing - minding his own businesses type of guy. Excellent
