There are 3 forms of media used for the data transfer between any two objects:
- cable based media, mostly copper cable
- fiber optic (which is more advanced and reliable and as such used also for long distance data transfer, like intercontinental data transfer/communication)
- the last one is air-waves based, so called radio signal, data transfer, mostly used in the case of mobile communications.
Ethiopia seems to be investing in the last method heavily while not yet doing the utmost effort to expand the first two. The 5G standard is the newest technology in this regard and Ethiopia is trying to invest into this field more heavily.
You can't turbo charge the digital transformation of the Ethiopian Economy without specially developing the fiber-channel data transfer means, supplemented with the cable based data transfer methodology. This is my view today, somebody can correct me if there is something I am missing.
