Those who blame Abiy for the backward and irrational infighting among the Northerns, Amara and Tigrians, how do you explain the never ending wars before Abiy even came to political office?
The two Tigrians united to fight against Amara (pre 1991)
Eth Tigrian and Amara united to fight Eri Tigrian (1998 - 2000)
Once Abiy showed up, he himself was party to the wars, he wasn’t playing the role of remote manipulator:
Eri Tigrian and Amara allied with Abiy to fight Eth Tigrian (recent past)
Eri Tigrian and Amara united to fight Abiy and potentially Eth Tigrian(ongoing)
Conclusion: Abiy is just as backward and irrational as the northern political elites.

What Almaz said is correct if you look at it at the highest level. Abiy's and OPDOs ultimate objective is to give birth to a new nation called Oromia. You can easily judge that by their narrtives and the ground works they have implemented so far. Hence it is natural that he wants to decimate all of them by pitting one against the other. Eritreas cultural and geographical connection with Amhara and Tigray could also be seen as a threat if you are in the shoes of Abiy Ahmed. Oromo nationalists deafning propoganda about kush empire targets only Afars and Afar's read sea. You will only need to observe OBN to understand their desires

If Ethiopian and Eritrean Semitic populations fail to demonstrate heightened awareness and judgment, Abiy Ahmed's actions may result in irreparable damage, possibly leading to the collapse of their shared cultural heritage. Abiy Ahmed is the devil incarnate.
