Are we facing a sociopathic leadership here?
Are we facing a sociopathic leadership here?

This lengthy (for this forum) article was written back in 2017, at the height of anti-Weyane movements but I extracted few paragraphs that I thought is very relevant for the situation we are in today and would like to share it here. Keeping in mind the date it was written, take a look at it and decide for your self if we (Ethiopians) are currently being led by a sociopathic PM?
We have, at least, heard of sociopaths in the past but some of us have actually witnessed a sociopathic character like the late Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi, however, what, in my view, most of us ignored or overlooked is the new, inspired by the former, sociopath that had propped up creating havoc in that unfortunate beautiful country.
Again, in my view, the new sociopath was focused on just correcting the ‘mistake’ of the former which led to his downfall. But what he(new) didn’t realize or thought about was that “what happens when the former sociopath’s mistakes are corrected and applied in that same beautiful, unfortunate country-Ethiopia and that is going to be his demise.
I went through each of the 10 common characteristics of a sociopath person listed below and I am afraid to say it but the PM is a typical on. How about you? Have your say …..
Here are the few indicators of sociopaths:
#1) Sociopaths tend to be highly intelligent, but they use their brainpower to deceive others rather than empower them. Their high IQs often make them dangerous. This is why many of the best-known serial killers who successfully evaded law enforcement were sociopaths.
#2) Sociopaths are incapable of feeling shame, guilt or remorse. Their brains simply lack the circuitry to process such emotions. This allows them to betray people, threaten people or harm people without giving it a second thought. They pursue any action that serves their own self-interest even if it seriously harms others. This is why you will find many very “successful” sociopaths in high levels of government, in any nation.
#3) Sociopaths speak poetically. They are master wordsmiths, able to deliver a running “stream of consciousness” monologue that is both intriguing and hypnotic. They are expert storytellers and even poets.
#4) Sociopaths invent outrageous lies about their experiences. They wildly exaggerate things to the point of absurdity, but when they describe it to you in a storytelling format, for some reason it sounds believable at the time.
#5) Sociopaths seek to dominate others and “win” at all costs. They hate to lose any argument or fight and will viciously defend their web of lies, even to the point of logical absurdity.
#6) Sociopaths are charming. Sociopaths have high charisma and tend to attract a following just because people want to be around them. They have a “glow” about them that attracts people who typically seek guidance or direction. They often appear to be sexy or have a strong sexual attraction. Not all sexy people are sociopaths, obviously, but watch out for over-the-top sexual appetites and weird fetishes.
#7) Sociopaths are more spontaneous and intense than other people. They tend to do bizarre, sometimes erratic things that most regular people wouldn’t do. They are unbound by normal social contracts. Their behavior often seems irrational or extremely risky.
#8) Sociopaths are incapable of love and are entirely self-serving. They may feign love or compassion in order to get what they want, but they don’t actually FEEL love in the way that you or I do.
#9) Sociopaths never apologize. They are never wrong. They never feel guilt. They can never apologize. Even if shown proof that they were wrong, they will refuse to apologize and instead go on the attack.
#10) Sociopaths are delusional and literally believe that what they say becomes truth merely because they say it! Charles Manson, the sociopathic murderer, is famous for saying, “I’ve never killed anyone! I don’t need to kill anyone! I THINK it! I have it HERE! (Pointing to his temple.) I don’t need to live in this physical realm…”

I don’t know much about Melles, but it fits the little rat perfectly.

Re: Are we facing a sociopathic leadership here?
I do not think either Meles or Abiy is sociopath. I do not see antisocial behavior per se in either of them. Meles had been a prime minister of a country he never admitted of existing. If he had been treated by a psychiatrist, he would have been found to be a delusional character. As for Abiy, he is not cut for politics. He is not eager to learn the complexity of Ethiopian politics leave alone the world. That makes him to be susceptible for having mercurial behavior. That makes it difficult for many to understand what he really believes in. Does he believe Menilik was a great Ethiopian leader or a dictator who sent an army who cut women breasts right and left. My guess is he believes both based on what he was feeling at particular day. That does not make him sociopath. It makes him an opportunist.
Re: Are we facing a sociopathic leadership here?
I humbly differ from your assertion of Abiy as refusing to learn, more or less you are inclined to saying he is incompetent leader. NO! He plans and does everything consciously . He make you believe his lies using his well known activists who in turn are encircled by an army of spies that provide/feed them(the activists) with made up seemingly first hand believable evidences. And he augment that with a touch of nationalist/patriotism bravado. We just have to see, without hate or bias, how both Meles and Abiy rose to power. We need to call a spade is a spade not a big spoon so that people know who they are dealing with.

Re: Are we facing a sociopathic leadership here?
I am not in a mood to comment today, but this expression caught my attention.
Let's say he is an opportunist, egoist, self-centered, devoid of any tendency for an altruism, no common goal, no feeling outside of his narrow interest, etc. I think these all are traits that characterize an "opportunist", if my English is not betraying me here, which is not unusual.
Abiy Ahmed came to power by declaring to spend his time day and night to serve the country that he has been given the opportunity to serve.
His motive is stated as making Ethiopia a better place than what he inherited. All his government's policies are geared towards this goal. And the results are open to the rest to see them on the ground.
- the green legacy, the self reliance in food production, the building of many infrastructures, which could have an impact for many more generations to come, helping those who are disadvantaged in the society achieve a better living conditions (never heard of before in the long history of the nation), being instrumental in introducing a better education policy in the country geared towards a quality education, which is a common good. Spending his spare time to write books and offer the income from its sell for common goods of the nation, all over the regions equally distributed.
The list is long, no one can dispute that.
Joining hand and trying to also contribute one's share in all those efforts is a normal human decency, denying a credit where it is due should be the lack of such a decency.
Criticizing is a noble idea as a honorable citizen but such a criticism should be based on a founded cases, if we really care about our own personal decency.

We all believed him when he was preaching this so good to be true promises/gospel until he unmasks himself with his own words and practices when he felt his power is threatened.
He just wanted that mandate so that he can do what he set out to do from the beginning but not for the long term prosperity of the country as he want us believe. His gratification will be short lived though as we will see shortly but the sad byproduct of that is, he is pulling the country back with him-a huge missed opportunity for the country again!
Abiy Ahmed came to power by declaring to spend his time day and night to serve the country that he has been given the opportunity to serve.
Did he make Ethiopia a better or even close to that promise? We all thought his opponents within OPDO are trying to make him look bad and we hoped and wished, soon he is going to win them because he has truth and support of many patriots with him . But we were dead wrong, he has no opponents in OPDO, he is in fact the leader of those we called/thought were opponents. Period! Don’t be delusional about this. How on earth will a leader of the people let the situation in welega and other parts of Oromia happen with no meaningful action but currently doing what he doing in Amhara region. What a shame!
His motive is stated as making Ethiopia a better place than what he inherited. All his government's policies are geared towards this goal. And the results are open to the rest to see them on the ground.

DTL: Delusional in support of a psychopath... Among the countless lies you've propagated, which of them are actually forthcoming, let alone grounded in reality? In a country where one cannot travel 50 kilometers outside of Addis Ababa, where 100 kilograms of Teff costs more than 15,000 birr, and where parents go to bed with empty stomachs, in order to leave a loaf of bread for their children. In a place where ethnic cleansing is a daily occurrence, and in the country in which government is implicated in withholding aid food to sale it neighboring regions as export. You boldly arrived here to spew nonsense. Moral decadence of the first kind.

Well, it has been well established that knowledge deficiency is the norm with the people who launch a war without any defined goal to achieve with the war.Y3n3g3s3w wrote: ↑04 Nov 2023, 17:45መልካም ብለሀል...

Now suddenly you appear also to have been concerned about the money being collected in the form of ransom from the Oromo people by a ragtag militia of their own.
It will be told somewhere in the following few days their war has been launched to achieve an accountability in the government financial system. The list will grow, indefinitely.
If it was not for a knowledge deficiency then the first question that should have been asked is "how much has been taken out of the government coffer, and how much of that has been used (spent) according to the defined purpose", which lies in the area of responsibility of responsible body, including parliamentary organ.
You have not given anything, but still you fill entitled to know how somebody else's money has been used.
Nothing can be more inept!
But with the people who can't even define what their goal is to wage a war, scientific definitions make no sense, I understand that much.Accounting looks specifically at the daily flow of money in and out of a business, keeping an eye on the balance and avoiding any future challenges.

ዝብዘባህን ተውና Answer the question : for all you know, is the commander in chief of the ENDF also the commaner in chief of ሸኔ? In the past he wasn't able to lead but was successful in decieving many people , however at the moment he is neither able to lead nor deceive almost anyone except "አውቆ የተኛ ቢጠሩት አይሰማም" ያንተ ቢጤዎችን።
