US worried about situation in Amhara, Blinken tells Ethiopia's PM

Sept 28 (Reuters) - The United States is worried about the situation in the region of Amhara, where the United Nations has spoken of ongoing human rights violations, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Thursday.

“(He) underscored the need to promote peaceful resolution through political dialogue and protection of human rights,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a readout of their telephone conversation. (Reporting by Kanishka Singh; Writing by Costas Pitas; Editing by Jacqueline Wong)

If meeting up with Mike Hammer is what turns an activist into an official "Representative," many will be enticed to upgrade their activist status by requesting a meeting with the white man whom they believe holds power over their political careers. :|

Something is holding me back (holding me back)
Is it because I'm black?

Somebody, please tell me
Is it because I'm black?
Is it because of my color?

I do not really get this. If the U.S. is now concerned about the crisis in the Amhara region, why did not include Amhara in the so-called Pretoria deal signed between TPLF and OLF-PP? The all-out crisis in Ethiopia and the paralysis of Abiy Ahmed's regime now is predictable from the out set when the Pretoria sh!t deal excluded the major stake holder of the war. I think what matters for Amhara people is to trust their own gut and keep the fight. It is also very concerneing to me when everytime when Amhara movement is discussed the U.S. is injecting Oromia, as if there were rebel OLF or war in Oromia. In Oromia, it is only Abiy Ahmed in diffent shapes and froms that is operating. Abiy Ahmed has OLF-ENDF at the government level and OLF/A or Shene in the jungle - all run by him. Thus, if the U.S. is concerned about the genocide committed against Amhara, there is no point talking about the conflict in Oromia ( because they are duplicating Abiy Ahmed).

Abiy is a spin less idiot. There is no need for any other foreign country specially the USA to mediate or put its nose in other countries internal affairs. If he is that weak that he can’t put his ducks in line by himself and his party, then the Ethiopians need to send him to the curb.
When are the Ethiopian leaders going to tell the evil USA to go mind its freaking business, knowing tplf was groomed by the USA to over throw the Ethio govt?
The USA is not interested about any Ethio ethnic group or Ethiopia for that matter.
It is working to keep its slave nation under its feet as always and to prevent the Russians or Chinese from doing business with Ethiopia.

Abiy Ahmed is one of the diseases that Ethiopia contracted. No amount of justification saves his regime. Rarely, out of crises incredible opportunities emerge, one of such examples is Abiy Ahmed’s true color and his firm goal of destroying Ethiopia and Amhara is exposed - which consequently gave birth of the Fano movement no defeating the evil goal of Orommuma. There is no good talking about Abiy Ahmed. He is just another TPLF, Deebretsion or Meles Zenaw. No Amhara has nostalgia about monsters. For Amhara all of these is not relevant, what is deterministic is the determination to defeat OLF and TPLF.

Mike Hammer gave his instructions to Abiyot Mohammed Ali and Demeke Mekonnen to kill lots of Amharas in order to pave the way for handing over of " Western Tigray " to the remnants of the TPLF. So, what is the point of " Amhara representatives " having a meeting with Mike Hammer ?

As some observers see it the " Amhara representatives " do not seem to be sure about their case. They want to settle the main issues through " diridir " , " referendum " and " according to the constitution of Meles Zenawi ". For the Tigrayans and their representatives the whole thing is very simple : they want to have " Western Tigray " under their control based on the " Pretoria Agreement ".
Ethiopia at UN calls for quicker progress on peace deal

Ethiopia told the United Nations on Saturday it wanted quicker implementation of a peace deal in Tigray, including on disarmament of former rebels.

Ethiopia's government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) in November last year reached an accord in Pretoria that has largely halted a brutal two-year war.

"The implementation of the agreement continues to make significant progress despite some delays in the execution of the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration process," Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen said in a speech to the UN General Assembly.

"There is a need to expedite this process and ensure its successful completion," he said.

The TPLF, formerly Ethiopia's dominant party, agreed to disarm under the Pretoria deal as government forces advanced.

An African Union monitoring mission confirmed in January that the TPLF had begun surrendering heavy weapons, and Tigray authorities said in July that more than 50,000 fighters had been demobilized, but the scale of implementation remains unclear.

Demeke said that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government, which has faced intense criticism including from the United States over alleged human rights violations, remained "committed to consolidate peace and stability throughout the country."

The agreement brokered in South Africa by the African Union "is a practical embodiment of African solutions to African problems," Demeke said.

Complicating efforts, forces from the neighboring region of Amhara still control Western Tigray, in a potentially dangerous flashpoint.

Interview with Fano leader. Always good to hear directly from them. Several other links above provide other interviews.
