Ethiopia is admitted to the BRICS - An anti-Western bloc, Thanks to the African Union Headquarters.
Ethiopia meets three of five criteria required to join BRICS.
Ethiopia is the headquarters of African Union. (very important)
Ethiopia has a young population of more than 120 million.
Ethiopia shares border with countries with the most strategic location, Somalia/Afar State/Djibouti.
The membership would take effect from January 1st, 2024
And by the way, Isaias Afwerki was caught on camera while begging China's President Xi Jinping for money and investment, poor confused Isaias.

It is irrelevant as Ethiopia is a very poor country.
All this small countries join BRICS to shelter themselves from western sanctions and for a loan.
B is a huge boost for emerging and natural resources rich economies.
