Raya means Defence/Meklaklya in Afaan Oromo
The original name of Raya is Angot which spans eastern Abysinnia bordering the Afar people between enderta and ambasel. Angot is habesha province and raya is habesha to this day

Raya is a cultural and geographical province so it is not a ethnic name
This is why Wejerat culture is similar to Wollo culture!
Welkayt does not have a tigray heritage that is why there is no Tigrayan Welkait songs
All tigrayan songs of Welkayt are made by Tembien adwa axum shire etc
But raya is different raya goes into the heart of Tigray (enderta)
