Is Dr. Abiy’s Job Transformation of Addisaba to Finfinne and Ethiopia to Oropia?

At the beginning of 2018’s change, Dr. Abiy’s position was diffuse, so that the three angles of Ethiopia’s triangular power struggle (Amara, Tegaru and Oromo) supported him. He enjoyed the best popularity any Prime Minister can only dream in all corners of Ethiopia. Amara elites thought that they can instrumentalize him as they did to Mengistu H/Mariam. Tegaru elites hoped to use him like they manipulated H/Mariam Desalegn. Oromo elites cautiously supported him thinking that he can implement Baro Tumsa’s vision. In due process Dr. Abiy proved to be none of the three. Surely, he is neither H/M Desalegn nor Mengistu H/M. Regarding Baro’s vision, he failed to implement till now. If he may do it in the future, time will show us. In case he is yet open for the vision, let me remind him.

Baro Tumsa (1938–1978), pharmacist, lawyer, Oromo nationalist and political leader in Oromia was said to be one of those mainly responsible for formation of the OLF. He was one of the revolutionary students in 1960s – who once spoke: “We, the Oromo, must capture state power by any means necessary. In order to do this, we must clandestinely organize all sectors of our society. It is the responsibility of the young educated Oromo like you, to disseminate the spirit of Oromo nationalism when you return to your respective communities. We can only change the deplorable condition of our people by being tolerant to one another and reestablishing a necessary Oromo national unity. In this way, we can build a strong organization, capture state power and take actions that facilitate fundamental social transformation.”

The question yet to be answered is: did the Oromo already capture state power? If yes, why we still failed to take actions that facilitate fundamental social transformation? If such social transformation in Oromo terms takes place, then surely Addisababa shall be Finfinne and Ethiopia will be Oropia (Oromumma led country) both in content and in form. Is Dr. Abiy’s next job to accomplish this transformation? If he may miss this chance of being Baro Tumsa in action, history will judge him. The envisioned transformation then can be fulfilled by genuine Oromo nationalists in OFC and OLF, when they shall takeover power from OPP in Finfinne palace.

"Badhoo Dachaas harka maaliin Baaroo Tumsaa ajjeese? jennee gaafanne. "Baaroo kan ajjeese hiriyaa kiyya Badhoo Dachaasi. Gurbaan mataa dhukkubsatee ture, Baaroo fa'aa anatu wal-barsiise. Waan mataa dhukkubsateef malee sagantaa biraa qabaatee miti Baaroon kan ajjeese.

That character (Baro Tumsa) could be paralleled in today's political scene with only the likes of jawar Mohammed, someone lacking any clear political vision or stand but grabing power by any means possible, at the cost of anything including the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people of the country. A truly political prostitution, he was active in almast all political groupings of the day, at times puting the lives of his own purported comrades at risk and this political prostitution would going to cost him his own live, he was killed by his own comrade at the end. But why?

Someone who lacked any sort of clear stand has also not deserved to live and keep putting the lives of many at risk and should be eliminated in due time, and that was what happened.

Youn have no vision and clear political goal but left with a notorious notion of someone is "assimilated" or "not assimilated" (he is a diqala, in your own words) and this should have been an embarrassing, if you had any sort of left over quality of human dignity.

Addisababa shall be Finfinne and Ethiopia will be Oropia (Oromumma led country) both in content and in form.
