A Simple Question
Let's say, you've just met an Eritrean on the street. How would you figure out where they're coming from. Do Eritreans recognise between themselves in terms of ethnicity?
Would you mind posting a few pictures that you think would represent such physical differences!
Please, do not get me wrong! I'm posing the very same enquiry with regard to Ethiopians as well.
Among Somalis, we don't have such ethnical and/or cultural differences among us.

Re: A Simple Question
Well it depends the majority of eritreans kebessa or tigrinya would recognize each other as an ethnic group surely though if they met agames they also would consider some of them eritreans or mistake them for eritreans since there is no difference in terms of looks and physcal appreances with their cousins the kebessas. How ever if an eritrean met an afar and beja who is a muslim i dont think they would consider or direclty view them as one of their own or recognize them because they dont get into contact with them offten.
the same with the gallas and amharas some times they think they are each other and some times u can tell the differences u cant tell the differences between the gallas and amharas that live together in shewa they are identical but the borana jimma gallas and even arsi look different

Re: A Simple Question
Well north shewa is amhara and south shewa is guraghe so between us are similar people who became tulama. This is why we wear same clothes. Guraghe clothes is very popular in shewa.i do not consider Karayu as shewan as they are lowlanders with more proximity to Afar people

Re: A Simple Question
Tualama is a warlord name of a Borana tribesmen that migrated to Shewa and made the amhara of central shewa+ Guraghe of southWestShoua and + Gafat of west shewa become oromo. This is why Shewa have very habesha looking people although the Omoric Damot ruled Shewa leaving drops of southerness in shewa. Even Fotalebash is worn in Shewa the same cloth gojames wear is worn by the locals. There are folks who pride their oromunna based on how Gojame or Woloye a woman can look

What about between Tigrayans and Amhara! Let's say an Amhara comes across a Tigrayan on the street, would they be able to figure out who is who?
From pictures, Borana women look more Somali. But men look more Bantu.
Re: A Simple Question
A terrorist agame who calls himself "Somaliman" and "Zack" makes me sick. Read what what he did in Somalia. Karma have since made him pay 1.5 million lives for his crimes against humanity, but I think the Karmic justice, although long-over due and well-deserved, is not commensurate with the diabolical crimes he committed against innocent civilians in Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Re: A Simple Question
Yo Somaliman Eritreans recognize each other when they are young at a place called 'the melting pot' or SAWA. What about Somalians ? How do you recognize a Somalian and a Siri Lankan ?
Re: A Simple Question
Some times. Tigrayans that border Amhara tend to look like Amhara but tigrayans in the north look different. From Amhara. But the give away is when one speaks. Though tigrayans are also excellent Amharic speakers how ever the past thirty years the tplf have engineerd a plan to. Put Tigrinya language first over Amhara so allot of youth speak Amharic but with an accent which is a give away gurage and Amhara can’t be told apart though
