Sam,
I tend to disagree, I do have some level of understanding to what you say.
Yes, the government (side) did crush TPLF (without burying it yet) and it was possible to occupy Tigray for one more time, if I am asked as someone who has little technical knowledge of the issue at hand here.
But it is also important to remember that we were there before too, at the end of 2020, if I remember correctly. We crushed TPLF in just over 2 weeks' time, and then occupied most of Tigray, including Mekele. Thereby we created also a trap for ourselves. We were bombarded with a defeaning propaganda of "people who commit genocide on their own people". Ethiopia was almost isolated internationally, all outsiders were demanding from Ethiopia to resolve the conflict through a peaceful means, including AU. There were/are people who were in pursuant of their own interests and others who were not informed the depth and breadth of TPLF problems domestically, while making that demand from the govenment.
There was an immense pressure both diplomatically and economically, which all hurted a lot.
Internally TPLF used the same propaganda to mobilize the Tigreans against the govenment side. Many members of the ENDF were denied any sort of sympathy in the region (which means created an environment of millions against hundreds of thousands or even thousands). Many lost their precious lives in such a setup, they were ambushed and attacked from behind, by the people they were there to protect. Such situation would also eventually leads to a war-fatigue, a risky situation.
In such cases it seems to me you have to craft a strategy which will going to hurt and expose the enemy, instead of burying the burden on your own.
Now, Tigreans will raise up and question why they were in the situation in the first place, there is now no one to blame for the missery they are in, except one, which is TPLF.
The bottom line TPLF is defeated and that is what this guy is admitting to, in my view.
Ethiopia defeated, if I am asked, not only TPLF but also the neo-liberalists' interference in the affairs of the nations of the world.
Now they turned 180 degree around, from "I determined violation of human rights" to "we have no issue of any violation of human rights" in just few month's time.
This is how you win over them, a lesson has been drawn.
