Puritans founded Harvard University in New England. They did not rebel against the British it was the 13 colonies of the slave infested south along with the elites (Founding Fathers) that established American Constitutional Independence thanks to financial support from France
The Founding Fathers were not Christians. They had their own secret religion and therefore granted Religious Freedoms under a secular state they applied Roman Greek laws and philosophical principles into America but there core religious belief cannot be mentioned https://youtu.be/NlMwvp-0m7c
