U.S. MISSION TO INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS IN GENEVA
INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE WITH THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON ERITREA
By U.S. MISSION GENEVA
JUNE 20, 2023
Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on Eritrea
Statement by the Delegation of the United States of America
As Delivered by Kelly Billingsley
Human Rights Council – 53rd Session
Thank you, Madam Vice President.
And thank you, Dr. Babiker, for your frank reporting.
The United States continues to condemn the Eritrean government’s treatment of its citizens, including reports of torture, arbitrary detention, and other abuses against those exercising freedoms of expression and religion or belief.
We also condemn Eritrea’s indefinite national service system and its unlawful recruitment and use of child soldiers. We are alarmed by recent reports that Eritrea has forcibly repatriated Eritrean refugees from Sudan. We call on the Eritrean government to introduce much needed national reforms to end these unlawful and abhorrent practices.
The United States urges Eritrea to ensure that all remaining troops leave northern Ethiopia and refrain from any attacks on civilians.
We remain gravely concerned by the atrocity crimes that were committed by members of the Eritrean Defense Forces during the conflict in northern Ethiopia, which include war crimes and crimes against humanity. It is imperative to hold those responsible for such crimes to account.
I thank you.

Re: United States urges Eritrea to ensure that all remaining troops leave northern Ethiopia & stop attacks on civilians
sarcasm (eden,etc)
Your likes have been increasingly spewing all sorts of disinformation on Eritrea(ns) for past few months...#1 in the hopes of diminishing recent optimistic events/developments of Eritrea(ns)...and #2 in hopes that when your buddies (UK,US, swiss?) head the UN security council chair for next 3-months that they can refer back to your disinformation as sources/pretext for their neo-colonial political agendas masked under fake/exaggerated human rights concerns.
Your unipolar/("our" rules based) buddies have no qualms in telling bald-faced lies, just like you (TPLF-agame of Tigray) against Eritrea(ns)1.
Most of the disinformation against Eritrea(ns) is from questionable hearsay testimony regurgitated as fact, even when disproved as false.
What's more is that when many of the alleged witnesses are examined thoroughly their stories either don't add up or they are lying due to conflict of interest (seeking asylum & willing to go to any lengths, or some form of association/sympathy to the TPLF of Tigray, or bribed by the TPLF, and some just wanting to create any liable against Eritrea even if it involves false testimony).
Thank you Z for reminding this TPLF disinformation agent (sarcasm ,eden) that the only group to use child soldiers is the TPLF of Tigray.
There are tens of thousands of child soldiers of terrorist TPLF in Tigray hopping around on one leg & crutches for anyone to see in the open. However this bald-faced lier tries to misdirect the case of child soldiers onto others instead of the terrorist TPLF.
