The collapse of one truce after another in Sudan, which entered its second month of a crisis that is about to afflict the country, while experts pointed the finger of blame at the “Brotherhood Shadow Brigades.”

Early last week, the parties to the crisis in Sudan announced, after talks between their delegations in Jeddah, a cease-fire for a week, but the next day, the sounds of bullets and the sound of shelling dashed hopes that the severity of the crisis would recede, confusing the calculations regarding the parties' ability to exercise restraint and adhere to the armistice.

Since the middle of last month, the Arab-African country has been witnessing fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which reject a proposed plan to integrate them into the military establishment and receive accusations about a supposed relationship between leaders in the armed forces and the Brotherhood.

The scene of battles that is going on without respite or stop despite international and regional pressures and the multiplicity of ceasefire initiatives, according to observers and experts in Sudanese affairs who spoke to Al-Ain News, indicates the involvement and involvement of the “Shadow Brigades Militia” or what is known as the military arm of the Brotherhood, in these battles under Many names.

Experts believe that “the Brotherhood brigades are pushing hard towards the continuation of what they consider to be their fateful battle, to turn the tables, obstruct the democratic path by sowing chaos and internal strife, and also work to impede the occurrence of any political change that would eliminate their gains and influence.

What experts say is the Brotherhood's conspiracies for chaos in Sudan, which has not stopped since a popular revolution overthrew the Omar al-Bashir regime in 2019.

In the aftermath of the fall of the Al-Bashir regime, the Transitional Military Council decided to dissolve the shadow “brigades”, but due to their ramifications, penetration, and material and human capabilities, these measures had no effect, if those brigades quickly reorganized themselves under new names and organizations.
    suspicious role

And based on a set of evidence, Sudanese political analyst Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Muhammad said, in an exclusive interview with Al-Ain News, that “the shadow brigades exist under many names, and they are engaged in what they consider to be their decisive and decisive battle.”

He explained: “Therefore, they are against any voice that calls for stopping the war (referring to the current battles between the army and the Rapid Support Forces) and they seek to bring it to an end.” .

Al-Mukhtar Muhammad affirmed, “The Shadow Brigades consider the current battle decisive and decisive. Therefore, they mobilized all their military and civil capabilities in it, and this is evident in their media discourse, which is still mobilizing for the continuation of the war, which they called the Battle of Dignity.

The Sudanese political analyst also warned that “there is a clear and provocative mobilization of the dissolved National Congress Party (the political wing of the Brotherhood) long before the outbreak of the war, and this feverish activity increased during the month of Ramadan with the imminent signing of the final agreement that would have led to the formation of a civilian government, which prompted With the forces of the revolution represented by the resistance committees, the forces of freedom and change, and trade unions to issue statements warning of the seriousness of the security and political situation.

Al-Mukhtar Muhammad indicated that the battles broke out (on April 15) “to block the road to the framework agreement and the peaceful political process that represented a safe way out for Sudan and the Sudanese, by dismantling the empowerment of Islamists in the civil state institutions, and carrying out security and military reform by merging support The rapid and the rest of the armies in one national army, and the dismantling of empowerment in the security and military services.

He added, "The RSF's rhetoric has also been pointing fingers, since day one, at the radical current in the Islamic movement through its military and security arms."

The shadow brigades have been instilled in the Sudanese security services since the seventies of the last century, as part of the policy of empowerment pursued by the Brotherhood, to protect its interests and ensure its continuity in power.

A number of leaders of the Islamic Movement succeeded in managing the Shadow Brigades groups, led by; Isolated Vice President Ali Othman Muhammad Taha, who publicly acknowledged at the beginning of the revolution against the Bashir regime in 2019, its existence and importance to protect the regime. He stressed at the time that those who think they will give up power are delusional.

The shadow militia managed to infiltrate the various state agencies and all sectors of the security services, and it has come to represent the deep state in Sudan, and it has also exploited ideological and tribal divisions to fuel its spread in Sudan.

Media reports indicate that the Shadow Brigades, as one of the paramilitary militias of the former regime, has a long history of committing crimes of violence and oppression against unarmed civilians and peaceful demonstrators in Sudan during the rule of ousted President Omar al-Bashir.
    clear plot

In turn, the Sudanese political analyst, Ashraf Abdelaziz, confirmed the Brotherhood’s involvement in the ongoing war, saying in an interview with Al-Ain News, that “the matter does not need to be delved into, just following their comments via social media and their insistence on war, is sufficient to prove their relationship with it, as well as clips Which was broadcast to Brotherhood elements involved in the ongoing fighting.

And media reports stated that social networking sites in Sudan were filled with pictures of “Harith Mubarak Jibril,” a member of the batch (70) of the Sudanese secondary school certificate affiliates in the police, and he is one of the leaders of the Brotherhood in Sudan, carrying a weapon amid a force of the central reserve of the Ministry of Interior in Sudan in battle field.

While the police responded, in a statement it issued earlier, that the Central Reserve forces are affiliated with the police and deployed to secure the markets and the property of citizens and arrest the outlaws. It also quickly denied the infiltration of elements of the People's Security Militia (Shadow Brigades) within its ranks.

The Sudanese journalist noted that there is a way out of the current war in Sudan, which is to adhere to the “Jeddah Declaration”, as it serves as the basis and anchor, and it is the site between the two parties to the conflict, according to the Saudi-American initiative, adding: But so that the solution through the Jeddah platform is not slow. And the repercussions and impact that this has on the humanitarian situation, the international community must put strong pressure on both parties, and those efforts must be integrated to make this initiative a success by integrating all other initiatives into it.

A week ago, the United States and Saudi Arabia announced in a joint statement that representatives of the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces had agreed to a ceasefire. The statement said that the ceasefire “can be extended with the consent of the two parties.”

He explained that the two parties to the conflict also agreed to “delivery and distribute humanitarian aid, restore basic services and withdraw forces from hospitals and basic public facilities.”

Abdelaziz warned against the consequences of being complacent and giving the parties one chance after another, otherwise the negotiation will be like a charade with no fixed deadline, especially since the two sides are counting on a military decision.

    Fear of accountability

The Egyptian journalist writer and expert on the affairs of political Islam movements, Dr. Hisham Al-Najjar, agrees with what the two Sudanese analysts have said.

Al-Najjar said in an exclusive interview with Al-Ain News: The Brotherhood in Sudan has a major role in igniting the ongoing war between two factions of the military component, the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

There are many evidences for this on the ground, and the hadeeth of “Al-Najjar”, there are those who confirmed this from the makers of the events, and from within the Sudanese scene; Because the Brotherhood wants to strike at the path of transition to civil rule, and to keep the situation as it is, where they rule from behind a curtain, pull the strings, and control decision-making and wealth.

The organization fears - adds Al-Najjar - the repercussions of the transition on their gains and the chances of them being held criminally accountable for the crimes of the past stage. Therefore, they pushed strongly towards war to turn the tables in the face of everyone and obstruct the path by spreading chaos and internal strife.

And the Egyptian political expert stated that Brotherhood leaders, including former army commanders, soon formed armed militias to engage in fighting in the direction that achieves their interests, and they also fueled tribalism and ethnic strife.

And he added: “Many of their leaders escaped from Kober Prison, repeating the scene of the Egyptian Brotherhood leaders escaping from prisons, all of which are evidences confirming prior planning and involvement thereafter in the course of the conflict, which aims primarily to turn Sudan back and maintain the Al-Bashir regime, and to impede any political change from happening.” It would reduce their gains and influence.”

In Egypt, during the events of January 2011, a number of Brotherhood leaders escaped from prisons with the support of external elements, before the group took control of the legislative institution and unilaterally drafted the country’s constitution, which led to congestion of the conditions that later erupted the June 30 revolution that toppled the group in 2013. .

Video clips circulated on social media on April 27, showing the escape of hundreds of political prisoners from prisons, in light of the continuing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Sudan has been witnessing a conflict since the middle of last month between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which reject a plan to integrate them into its ranks.

Since its outbreak, the battles have claimed about a thousand lives, most of them civilians, and prompted more than a million Sudanese to flee or seek refuge in neighboring countries, while the health system, which was already suffering from a lack of supplies, has collapsed, and the security and humanitarian situation has deteriorated.
