President Isaias Afwerki received today Amb. Dafallah Alhaj who delivered message from General Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, President of Sovereign Council. Subsequent discussions, focused on ways/means of extricating Sudan from current situation & role of neighbouring countries & IGAD.

President Isaias underlined, urgency/imperative of ceasefire. The President further stressed that the problems in Sudan can only be solved by the Sudanese themselves, without complicating extraneous interference. Role of IGAD, must also be confined to supportive & facilitating role.

Pre. Isaias also clarified that deliberate disinformtion disseminated by certain news outlets alleging, among other things, that

was utterly false & propagated as part & parcel of usual smear campaigns against the country.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Isa Ahmed Isa, Eritrea’s Ambassador to Sudan.

Ambassador Dafallah Alhaj returned home concluding one-day working visit to Eritrea.

قال الرئيس اسياس افورقي ان مشكلة السودان يجب حلها فقط بالسودانيين دون تدخلات خارجية ، ويجب ان يكون دور منظمة الايقاد ايضا مساعدا ومسهلا فقط، موضحا بان تدخلات الدول الاخرى تعقد المشلكة ولا تأتي بالحل الدائم، وشدد على وقف اطلاق النار اولا.

واكد الرئيس اسياس بان ما تبثه بعض وسائل الاعلام بان ارتريا وبالتعاون مع دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة ستقدم الملاذ لقوات الدعم السريع ، ما هو إلا محض كذب ودعاية تشويهية.

واوضح السفير دفع الله الحاج ان الرئيس اسياس اكد بلا حدود على قناعته بان القوات المسلحة السودانية هي المؤسسة الشرعية الوحيدة المسؤولة من امن واستقرار السودان ، وطمأن شعب وحكومة السودان وسيادة الرئيس عبدالفتاح البرهان بان السودان لن يؤتى من ارتريا ، وانما ارتريا ستكون صمام أمان. This Facebook post https://perma.cc/6RCT-PRY6 with an image supposedly of Eritrean forces deployed to Kassala https://www.britannica.com/place/Kassala-Sudan in Sudan, near the border of Eritrea, in April 2023 is FALSE.

The Amharic text accompanying the image translates to;

Information: Eritrea is deploying a large number of its soldiers to the Sudanese state of Kassala, which is close to the Eritrean border.

An armed conflict https://www.impact-initiatives.org/what ... is-thread/ broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on 15 April 2023.

Reports https://www.voanews.com/a/fighting-in-k ... 82660.html indicate that representatives from the warring parties are holding talks in Saudi Arabia as mediators push for an end to the conflict that has claimed hundreds of lives and forced tens of thousands of others to flee the country.

Google reverse image search results https://lens.google.com/search?p=ATHekx ... p3PT0iXQ== established that the photo advancing the claim has been used online in different contexts unrelated to Eritrean troops being deployed to Kassala in Sudan in April 2023.
