On Apr 16, 1938 an Agreement-the Easter Accords-& Protocols were signed between Italy & Great Britain. The Agreement, inter-alia, included detailed dispositions of islands in the Red Sea. Some of the islands were at center of dispute between Eritrea & Yemen, in 1995.
The Agreement dealt with the presence of Italian officials, at Great Hanish, Little Hanish & Jebel Zukur for the purpose of protecting the fishermen who resort to those islands & the presence at Abu Ail- Centre Peak & Jebel Teir for the maintenance of the lights on those islands.
By and through the Easter Accords, Britain gave de jure recognition of the invasion of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) and it got parity in the Red Sea. @Erihistory
