Premature, immature, ill-timed unjustified uprising
The student-led army-hijacked uprising against Haileselassie was long overdue and fully justified
The nation-wide revolt against the Dergue that was hijacked by the TPLF was also long overdue and fully justified
The quero-led revolt against the brutal TPLF that sent the brutal regime to the bushes running for cover was timely and well-coordinated
The amhara instigated uprising against Abiy on the other hand is ill-timed, premature and unjustified. Of all the previous uprisings and revolts in Ethiopia in the past 70 years, this is the most infantile and most strange.
The Blue Party leader, Yiliqal Getnet, was scared to death of the TPLF. He once led a protest rally against the brutal regime mastering about 100 supporters. The TPLF had given the Blue Party permission to hold the rally provided that it kept itself with a one meter wide corridor, with ag'azi soldiers waiting with their [deleted] on either side in case any one of Yiliqal's supporters were to veer outside this narrow corridor.
Now "bold" Amhara activists, abusing the democratic rights introduced by Abiy, are revolting like Ethiopia has no tomorrow.
Ill-timed, premature, immature, totally unjustified!

Re: Premature, immature, ill-timed unjustified uprising
Ato justo,
When you say "premature" do you also mean that it could have waited to get more mature?
In the presence of maturity, there is no need to try to topple the democratically elected government by a means of revolt. This two can't go hand in hand.
I remember the former President of the USA, George W. Bush, commenting at the occasion of the highly contested election result that finally made him President of the country saying "but we have a constitution" to a question raised by the media representatives. They asked him what he (his team) will going to do if the other party may not going to conceed a defeat at the end?
To this question he replied back then saying "but we have a constitution".
The people you think are premarture would have definitely said in his place "but we have our mobs". Ethiopia is now essentially co-governed by a mob, and I don't think a mob will ever get matured.

Re: Premature, immature, ill-timed unjustified uprising
It will remain premature as long as Abiy maintains his vision for a democratic and developed Ethiopia. A revolt would be justified, if he were to turn brutal, but I don't see that happening in the coming many years, it doesn't seem to be in his nature.DefendTheTruth wrote: ↑03 Apr 2023, 15:59Ato justo,

How can you call Abiy brutal and Menelik emeye, it just doesn't add up

Their fury, like ours, should be directed at Ameri-KKKa's foreign policy.

If I'm correct you are an Eritrean -- so It would have been better if you don't dive into an issue that you don't fully comprehend, or fully comprehend but chose to play political expediency. How premature could it be if one becomes a target for ethnic cleansing with the government institution admittedly taking part in an ethnic cleansing criminal enterprise? How long do the Amharas shish and get slaughtered so the so-called uprising gets matured and justified --a year, two, three, four, five, just take a stab at it. -- while thousands are being killed. For most Ethiopian do you think democracy comes first than their very survival? what is strange is that your pontification that Amharas struggle for survival is infantile. Name one political question the Amhara's raised that doesn't merit a genuine response. Name one. Or on your part, it is just part of gung-ho politics?

Justina
You have no say in your own Affairs in Sawaland let alone come to Ethiopia and praise and demonize our internal political issues which are always changing... I do not accept your lame propaganda ..............Amhara are not revolting against Abiy they are demanding reforms.... a revolt is a violent term not a Selamawi Self..... A revolt has truely occured in Welega-Tigray but not Amhara. Tigray and Welega Shiftas sacrificed their own for the sake of hatred against Abiy via war.... Welega has had very little development because it has been war focused as well as Tigray against PP..... so to say Amhara are against Abiy is false and is a lie

Re: Premature, immature, ill-timed unjustified uprising
Justo,
You are incredible. You support a government in Eritrea that hijacked its independence for the last 31 years, without any input from the people, none existent economy, and you dare Ethiopians what to do ?
What unlucky the people of Eritrea are. This is none of your damned business. Abbiy has jillions of faults. It depends all the say for Ethiopians do say. Unfortunately it is colored with Ethnicity. Abbiy has a lot of street smart. But, he is not good political leader. Not a good leader for all Ethiopians. He is a divider. He is already kissing up to the Tegarus.
Now, the government in Eritrea owns the people of Eritrea. That is where you really need to concentrate if you really are pro the people.

BTW,
This time around, Isayas better not interfere on either side. He is a survivor. He knows that very well.

The problem is that revolutions are not made to the taste of persons like you or any other individual's desire. You are either being totally ahistorical (absurd) or childish in your understanding of popular behaviors and the nature of revolutions. For a serious observer, this regime is ruling under extreme economic hardship and crisis of the people unseen in the emperial, militatry or Tigry tribal rule.
This time your perceptual system could not pick the data present for the revolution because your own political economic interest is at stake. But that is not the logic of social history. In the real world of the ordinary people, they feel and they know when a regime is unable to govern and when their cup is full and refuse to be ruled in the old way. That historical and social moment is what you have no control over and become a mere observer of the people. As the saying goes, it is the people and people alone are the makers of history! Revolutions are not made to the order of the liking of you, me or any other individual.
so, let us be modest and learn from the unfolding historical processes. The Oromo tribal order is a system that is dead on arrival!!!

Abiy was elected by popular vote ie by a public that wanted to kiss good bye to ethnic federalism and TPLF/OLF crafted constitution.Abiy delivered that with his speech, but turned his back on the voting majority and stressed ethnic federalism and the constitution are here to stay.
Do you know TPLF/OLF kept the Amharas out when they prepare the constitution??? The Amharas were never part of this
unpopular and dangerous constitution you harping on about. how democratic is this??
The democratically elected government you keep singing about is a farce since there weren't and still there are no democratic institutions in Ethiopia. Abiy is simply a dictator who tricked his way into high office.
How come some who was not born or long time resident of Addis ababa become a mayor in a democracy???
I hope you are all seeing the fruits of ethnic federalism in the eye.
