Ok! Not really issayas's elephant.
But here is the story:
Burundi an african country did suffer from ruthless various dictators after its independence. One of its dictators was a lot similar to our issu in eritrea.
During his reign there were more prisons than schools in Burundi. Same as in eritrea, his people were scared of him.
Below is a true story:
The Burundi dictator did have an elephant but a loose one. His elephant was devastating the farmland and destroying the crops of the farmers. As such, the farmers decided to complain to the dictator and they nominated a brave elderly man to represent them.
So they went in group in a sort of demonstration to the dictator's office. The dictator stood on the balcony and asked what brought them to him.
The brave elderly man turned around to make sure he was not alone but to his dismay, there was none among the villagers all fled scared. He was all alone.
His response:
Dear president or kbur president, we are here to show our sympathy with your elephant. He is all alone, he needs a partner such as a wife. Think about it.
So the old man saved his neck.
Eris are in such situation, when I follow what wedi abe or paulos sit in front of issu and ask questions, the old Burundi man comes to my mind.
