- Was established on a rushed manner with out enough preparation with the main objective of consolidating the power of Abiy and to get rid of the TPLF
- No clear and consistent change management process was followed and implemented to root out old paradigm of EPRDF & plant new paradigm of PP
- Lack of transperancy, trust & power struggle among members specially beween Oromia and Amhara members
- Failed to prevent the war with Tigray and that delayed the consolidation & convergence of PP members toward same vision, mission, values and goals.
- Most leadership and members are opportunistic and have been already corrupted during their time in EPRDF and they further intensified their corrupted practice after joining PP exploiting the unsteadiness & instability in the country.
- Abiy's dictatorship, undemocratic, unparticipating, inconsistent & unpredictable leadership style may have contributed to it's failure.
- No check and balance among the three government arms. Executive / politicians are too powerful and the legislative and judiciary are undermined intentionally by the executive body/politicians
Currently PP is in a complete disarry , in paralysis and terminally ill where it cannot be able to be easily repaired !
The way forward :
- The Constitution divides the Government into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial and all three have to effectively operate for constitutional check and balance
- Further restructuring to root out ethinic and regional based thinking and informal and formal networks.
- Enforce strict party deciplene of PP members
- Eliminate members who are chronically corrupted & unwilling to change.
- Need to transform PP under new paradigm by passing it on a time bound change management process
- Change of leadership & management style from Abiy to other leaders.
- Standardized and agreed land, security, economy , investment, social , movement of people , political etc policies that have to be implemented seamlessly through out Ethiopia. Oromia or any other state should not be allowed to unilaterally constrain/ block free movement of people, abolish houses , directly or indirectly support demographic change or train unlimited security personnel. A standardized constitution and check and balance has to be effectively implemented through out the country. Ethiopia is currently under constitutional disorder and disarry where law and order is grosely undermined by local governments and politicians at the expense of violation of individual human rights( including death ), security protection and religious rights
- Revise the existing constitution to ban Ethinic based parties , article 39 and put boundary conditions on the establishment of state governments( such as population size, land size etc)
- Unify local government special forces under the command structure of the ENDF or dual command structure between local government and ENDF
