Having suffered numerous setbacks during its protracted war against the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF), the Derg regime evoked a diabolical scorch earth “Drain the sea to catch the fish" policy towards the Eritrean people during the most gruesome years of the conflict.
To this end, the Derg recruited tens of thousands of people from the Tigray region to carry out its genocidal policies due to their well-known and documented massive inferiority complex towards the Eritrean people— a mental disorder the new recruits had weaponized to inflict maximum mass casualties on the Eritrean civilian population. The goons served as intelligence officers, spies, prison guards, etc.. and carried out mass executions, arbitrary arrests, torture and rape against the Eritrean people to enforce the communist regime's cruel "drain the sea" policy.
In addition, the Derg regime imported several thousand Tigray women into Eritrea to serve as "comfort women" for Derg soldiers, as well as to spy on Eritrean civilians, à la, One-To-Five.
Turning these blood-thirsty goons against the Derg regime was a strategic move that gave birth to the TPLF. We thought, by turning the other cheek and pushing their strollers through the gate of Arat Kilo in 1991, it would address their decades-old generalized grievances and cure their inferiority complex by bringing them back to the human family, but, alas, they proved that a leopard cannot change its spots.
Unfortunately, it didn't take long for these goons to unleash the violence they had perfected into an art form in Eritrea onto the Ethiopian people —their fellow citizens, to further enforce their violent behavior that would become endemic. Even the Tigray people, from whose womb the demon goons came to the world, are not spared from their violence either, with over one million Tigrayan youth killed in a 2-year mercenary war triggered by the goons' terminal inferiority complex that cannibalizes itself. Case in point:
