More than 140 UN member states vote in favor of Ukrainian peace formula

The resolution entitled "Principles of the Charter of the United Nations that underline the comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine" was adopted at the UN General Assembly's emergency special session meeting.
The resolution was passed with 141 votes for, 7 against, and 32 abstentions, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from New York.
Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Syria voted against.
China, India, Pakistan, Cuba, Iran, Kazakhstan, Armenia, South Africa are among the countries that abstained.
The eleven-point resolution "underscores the need to reach, as soon as possible, a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine in line with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations" and calls on member states and international organizations to " redouble support for diplomatic efforts" to achieve it.
The document reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and reiterates its demand that the Russian Federation “immediately, completely and unconditionally” withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine.
The General Assembly calls for complete exchange of prisoners of war, the release of all unlawfully detained persons and the return of all internees and of civilians forcibly transferred and deported, including children.
In addition, the resolution calls for an immediate cessation of the attacks on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine and any deliberate attacks on civilian objects, including those that are residences, schools and hospitals.
The document emphasizes the need to ensure accountability for the most serious crimes under international law committed on the territory of Ukraine through appropriate, fair and independent investigations and prosecutions at the national or international level.
Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba stated that the UN General Assembly resolution on peace in Ukraine covers the key points of the peace formula put forward by President Zelensky.
As reported, on March 2, 2022, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution "Aggression against Ukraine" condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine and demanding that the Russian Federation immediately withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine. The resolution was supported by 143 countries.
On March 24, 2022, the General Assembly adopted the resolution entitled "Humanitarian consequences of the aggression against Ukraine" with 140 voting in favour.

During their invasion a year ago, their high ranking officials bragged that within 3 days the war will be over. They overrated/overestimated their war machineries and they thought the march will be a cake walk. Now they are stalled. They noticed they are are fighting a dedicated nationalist army and which is ready to fight to the end. Besides the NATO is involved in this war.
I believe putin wants to involve China and perhaps he begged them to find a solution. Mind you the second powerful man in china was in moscow 2 days ago and he met with putin.
Yesterday, the chinese has come up with a new peace proposal, I believe they are 9 points. First step is cease fire and the rest are kept secret.
In my opinion, putin is seeking face saving solutions for both warring parties thru China.
I may be wrong!

In any case, for this war to stop someone has to be a mediator. I do not know who will be that person or country. As you know marginalized or less developed countries do not weigh in matters of this scale. All these big countries appears to have their own stake in it. I am afraid they will fight this out to the end, their hands reaching out to their nuclear arsenal. I am wondering whether Ukraine is the symptom or the cause for the impending global crisis, aka nuclear war.

I believe you haven't understood the drift of my message.
In a nutshell, the russians have lost this war, of course they can blabber about applying nuclear weapons which is a sheer lie. They ain't idiots, deep down, they know if they dare apply one of their nuclear headed missiles and shoot it towards the west, then there will be no such thing as russia which we know.
You amhara have a good saying which goes: yenakut yasregizal. You can see how the Ukrainians are defending their country and how they made russia a laughingstock of the world in a sort of david vs. Goliath war.

This reminds me of your king sillassie, he did have utter contempt for our patriotic fighters the ELF aka jebha in the 1960s, he was sending his troops carrying robs so that they capture the fighters and tie them with the robes. According to ELF veterans, they were finding robes in the pockets of the killed sillassie soldiers. So much utter contempt!!!
Where are the ELF? They were replaced by their illegitimate son shaabia and they became the movers and shakers of the HOA. Lol

Well, the war is still going on. Ukrainians are heavy paying price in their lives and they lost large part of territories to Russia. Of course, Russia too lost its soldier. Thus, I do not get your definition victory and how you measured it? I think you are playing propaganda and I do not know your purpose, especially in a time where your own people are suffering. If you were sincere you would pray for peace. War is God's wrath brought by handful of sinners, not by most peace loving people.
I do not understand why you are mixing apples and oranges by injecting Eritrea and Ethiopia in this case, where this is not worth to be such an example. I am feeling you are among the most hurt people by the recent defeat of TPLF.

Ukraine advisor on Bejing’s "peace plan": China yet not fully understands “Russia is gone”

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, believes that China, offering a "peace plan" for Ukraine where one point contradicts another, is actually siding with the Russian Federation, trading its reputation and not fully understanding that Russia is gone.
That’s according to Polodyak’s comment voiced on Freedom TV.
"There is one important point in the Chinese plan – an immediate ceasefire. And this is the only effective point that exists in this plan. And this means that Russia will remain in the occupied territories, we will have a new demarcation line, and we will see a slow absorption of Ukraine. This there will not be a three-day blitzkrieg, but, let's say, a three-year destruction of Ukraine with the ever-growing influence of the Russian Federation... I believe that all peace plans that provide for an immediate ceasefire and preservation of the current territorial status quo are exclusively a game in favor of the Russian Federation. It's surprising to me that someone still doesn't understand this... And it's surprising to me that China still doesn't fully understand that Russia is gone," he said.
According to the official, Ukraine understands the position of any country that expresses its point of view in one way or another. But, if the country claims the role of a global power and puts forward fundamental initiatives – and China claims exactly this role – then they should be very scrupulous about the words they propose.
"They (points of the peace plan - ed.) must have a logic that is understandable to many countries. It can be positive, negative, you may like it or not, but it must be a clear and understandable position. If you prescribe territorial integrity and sovereignty as inviolable canons for the modern world, then the question arises how to implement it in the presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory and an immediate ceasefire. How could it be implemented? Otherwise, this means one point contradicts another. It is then just a vague document of no value," emphasized Podolyak.
In his opinion, China is playing someone else’s game now. "They have their own thousand-year history, they plan for 10 to 20 years ahead, they see completely different life cycles, and now they are starting to exchange their reputation and their history, as well as the fundamental technology markets of Europe and the United States for a country that will definitely not exist in its current form tomorrow and neither will it have any influence on global politics. It is not clear to me why China should swap their reputation for this all," Podolyak said.
As reported, the PRC presented a 12-point document that, according to Beijing, will help settle the conflict. However, many saw nothing constructive in the offered approach, noting that in general it can be considered to be more in line with the interests pursued by the Kremlin.

A Saudi Arabian Prince visited Kyiv on 26 February.
As customary, guests bring presents with them, so Prince Faisal brought USD 400 million assistance ($100 million in humanitarian aid and $300 million in oil products).
The visit was the first by an official Saudi delegation to Ukraine since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1993.

Only 7 countries voted against: Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Mali, Eritrea and Nicaragua.
By February 23, 2023, leaders of many countries visited Kyiv after the start of the full-scale invasion by Russia.
During the last 10 days, Kyiv also welcomed: U.S. President Joe Biden, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni & Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez
The Ukrainian president has so far received at least one visit from almost all larger European countries except for Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belarus.
The most far-flung visits to Ukraine in the past year were made by the leaders of Indonesia, Australia, Guatemala, Canada and Guinea-Bissau.
Ukraine’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba said , “Every war ends in a diplomatic way. Every war ends as a result of the actions taken on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.”
Forming alliances is as great a part of the successful warfare as of peace-making.
