Abere - I am not joking. This is serious!
Addis Ababa is only a few hundred kms away from the Rift Valley & it had experienced an earthquake in 1906 that was a magnitude of 6.8 at epicentral distance of 100 kms. And anything above 6.0 could cause a lot of damage in very populated areas.
Given the current concentration of people in the capital city and the number of high-rise buildings, such a magnitude would result in a devastating loss of life and property damage. As you may already know, irresponsible contractors bribe inspectors and reduce reinforcement bars and use substandard concrete mixes. Therefore, it’s just a matter of time.

Your concern regarding earth quake is legitimate but I do not think it is a priority. I very well know those cities in the rift valley system (active volcano region) are at risk of earth quake. For instance, Nazareth is one of the cities most likely to experience. If I am correct National Urban Planning Institute ( staffed with Architecture, Engineers, Geologists) survey, not sure this agency is functional, did not recommend high rising building in cities in the rift valley system. I saw these days in Addis Ababa, people see as show of wealth by to own G+3, G+...+ n buildings and most of them by ባህላዊ ግንበኞች which is not good even just for regular safety reason. However, enforcing standards requires a functional government. Unfortunately, Ethiopia does not have government. I honestly, Ethiopia is a country without government by default survives due to long established shared value and culture. A thug regime killing people routinely does not care about buildings. This is a regime that killed peaceful demonstrators with live bullet for they carried water jerrycans (እንስራ) on their backs and demands access for potable water. In fact the Abiy Ahmed regime badly wants all building to collapse so that he could displace and ethnic cleanse the residents of Addis - that way helps to implement demographic change, His queroo has been burning down building complexes and large plant intentional, if nature (earth quake helps) they see this an opportunity.

Just ironic that PP sent a rescue team to Turkey.

Sketch map of the Afar triangle region with highly simplified tectonics and some of the region's volcanoes are indicated as triangles

Here's a more accurate map of Volcanoes in Ethiopia
Notable Volcanoes include Debre Zayt (Bishoftu) Volcano and Zikwala Volcano
