This generation should be better than this. Leave the fiction of the past and be positively forward thinking. The true reason is, power hungry individuals deceitfully misguiding ordinary people.

I agree, Tigray- Amhara power rivalry ( as any rivalry anywhere in the world ) is driven by ambitious individuals from both sides with zero sum goals! The challenge for the current and future generation is on how to change the zero sum rivalry to a win-win one through discussion and negotiation. The Fulani ( 6%) & Housa ( 30%) that live both in the Northern Nigeria have an exemplary alliance that has helped them to coexist in peace.

Axumezana is one and only one! He is a Tigrayan(from people North of Mereb & South of Mereb). He was born as an Ethiopian, have lived as an Ethiopian and will die as an Ethiopian!

In my opinion, this generation has not to stuck with ethnic narratives which has been intensely pitched and used by power hungry individuals over the last 50 years. This is an out of date mind set. To be honest, it is very hard to demarcate the culturally boundary between Amhara and Tigre, even their language is so close. I do not know any ethnic group on earth to contrast with with such degree of similarity. Other than the fictional propaganda used to deceive, there is no power rivalry between Tigre and Amhara. As we all know the Solomonic dynasty belongs to those few individuals who claimed to have belonged to that family. Like in all traditional societies of the world, there had been always palace feud and coup, but this can not be translated to Amhara vs Tigre thing. So, the bottom-line should be we need a country that everyone can live freely without being marginalized and individuals treated with dignity, the right to work, the right to be elected or elect in every corner of the country. The ethnic barrier/wall has to be demolished, just like the Berlin wall. We already saw that tribalism and its game rule failed our country and lost millions. We should now think outside of the box, especially in an era where we see (let alone people of the same race) even inter racial marriage /Black -White is pervasive.
