Eritrean soldiers have pulled out of the major towns of Shire and Axum in Tigray region and headed toward the border, three witnesses told Reuters. This will bring about peace between the two brothers (Amhara and Tegarus) in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Afar and Oromo forces will also contribute to peace in the country

What are the concerns of Amhara politicians and elites about bringing peace to Tigray and how to address them?

Most of Amhara politicians and elites were supporting the war against Tigray to see TPLF dead and Tigray weakened so that one road block is removed on their their journey to come to power at Arat Killo. They fear the unexpected reconciliation between TPLF and OPDO could make their ambition impossible in the foreseeable future. Some of them are also being used by Isaias to spoil the peace.

The question everyone needs to understand is "What was the Tigray war all about?"

Who lost?
At the start of this article I said it wasn’t clear if the war is over, and it is not. But if peace is now at hand, then all sides can consider what they won and lost.

Tigrayans are the greatest losers. Their incredible bravery and resilience shocked and surprised the world, but so much of the region is in ruins. Tigrayans showed an extraordinary resilience and unity, without which they would not have survived.

But they appear to have lost western and southern Tigray: extremely painful considering the lives lost and the destruction caused. Was it a futile choice to turn Tigray into a warzone rather than make the inevitable ‘bitter concessions’ [to borrow Getachew’s words] pre-war? And what of the hopes of so many for an independent Tigray?

Very true that Tigrayans in Ethiopia's Tigray region and in Eritrea and also Amharas in Ethiopia are the greatest losers
