We should applaud the chance to reduce death, destruction, disease and poverty in Eritrea, Ethiopia and the world.

A magnitude-5.5 earthquake occurred in Northern Red Sea Region, Eritrea, at 15:21 Dec. 26. The epicenter was about 150 km (94 miles) southwest of Asmara, Eritrea. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and moderate shaking was probably felt near the epicenter, as well as light shaking across parts of central Eritrea and far northern Ethiopia. . . .

The fate of Dr Birr is in limbo. Uncertain moment that needs bold decisions. His decision not to travel to Mekele with the peace delegation as ordered by Abiye, if it wasn’t influenced by Issias, was a very bold move. His supporters are working very hard to convince him to get out of the Abiye trap.
