Breaking News : Eritrean Adiam Berhane in Arlington faces 196 years in prison for credit card fraud

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WRIC) — The owner of a coffee shop in the Rosslyn area of Arlington County has been convicted on several charges in federal court in connection to a credit card fraud scheme that authorities say had hundreds of victims.

According to court records, 50-year-old Eritrean Adiam Berhane defrauded Washington, D.C.-area residents from at least 2013 to 2016, stealing their identities and using them to purchase gift cards and other items.

Caffe Aficionado in Rosslyn (1919 N. Lynn Street) is closed following a police raid this morning.

Police say the cafe’s owner, Adiam Berhane, was involved in a scheme to profit from cloned credit cards. She and her business partner, Clark Donat, were both arrested and charged with money laundering and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud.
