Way to go Saudi national team,
The Saudi Arabian Wahhabi fanatics who have been spreading death and Islamist Jihadi terror for centuries, for the first time, discovered the true religion of peace. Look the Saudis becoming normal people. May the beautiful game bring the true faith of peace to the traumatized Arab world.

One journalist comments this way:
... In Messi, they have one of the greatest players ever — a title that would be less in dispute if his international resume had included the type of success he achieved in a long club career at Barcelona before moving to Paris St. Germain. But with a loaded roster and the good vibes of the Copa America win, Argentina was a popular pick to win the World Cup and one of the betting favourites.
Saudi Arabia didn’t just upend that narrative, they did it in style, notching a much bigger upset than Canada hopes to accomplish in its World Cup opener against Belgium on Wednesday.
Someone who didn’t watch the early morning match on this continent could be forgiven for assuming that the Saudis spent the game under siege and that they scraped out a couple of goals from a dodgy penalty call and maybe a header that bounced off someone’s backside. But no, two lovely goals from open play and an aggressive strategy that took the game to Argentina. The Saudi players earned it.
And that was sportswashing in its essence. On Monday, Saudi Arabia was a murderous regime with a brutal, oppressive record on human rights. On Tuesday, it got to play the role of scrappy underdog basking in sporting glory.
It only makes sense that it was at this tournament that it happened.
Here is the truth of the nature of the Islamic Wahhabi Saudi regime that beheaded 15 people in the last two days.
Spending billions of petrodollars would not sportwash all the blood.
The Daily News reports:
Saudi Arabia has now executed 17 people in just 12 days – taking the total for 2022 to 144
Saudi Arabia has executed 17 people over the past 12 days, it has emerged
The country said in 2021 it would not use death penalty for non-violent crimes
Prisoners who were executed had been convicted for drugs offences

Saudi Arabia has been accused of using the World Cup as a distraction after it beheaded 17 people over the last 12 days, a UN official said Tuesday, despite the country's leaders pledging not to use the death penalty.
UN human rights office spokesperson Elizabeth Throssell called the capital punishment 'deeply regrettable' at a press briefing in Geneva, reported the Independent.
The spate of executions were punishments for drugs offences, though the country implemented a moratorium on the use of the death penalty for non-violent crimes in 2021.

A lot of beheading is coming up “for misbehaving” after the Saudi is defeated and kicked out of the tournament
