Where is the wheat aid convoy now? In Ethiopia or Djibouti? If it is in Djibouti, I do support the Ethiopian gov't to block it and distribute the locally produced wheat instead. Don't get me wrong that I'm not against the the relief process in Tigray, but we shall do so and utilize what the country is harvesting now lest our farmers fall in the "Aid" trap. Those "Lords of Poverty" are trying to dump their garbage to depress the local market (local farmers.)

Once the Federal government takes over Tigray fully probably in few weeks, the federal government will administer distributing the aid relief. So, be patient a little bit... The new Provisional Tigrayan President is on his way from Addis to Mekelle

The food aid trucks are full & ready in Djibouti but Abiy's government have refused to give them approval to travel. Abiy's government are not saying we will feed our people from local produce. They have refused access starting from August as they are using famine as a weapon of war. Ethiopia does not produce enough wheat to feed it's population. The West would not waste their money on feeding 20 million Ethiopians if the country produces enough wheat as the price of wheat has shot up by 165% between May 2021 and May 2022. I don't know if you have noticed the increase in the price of bread in your local shop. Maybe your better half does the shopping and bakes home made ድፎ ዳቦ





I agree with the point you are making in regards to aid trap. But the issue on this thread is different.

(Bloomberg) — Ethiopia is seeking International Monetary Fund financing to provide food for its people after the worst drought in four decades and a civil war curbed farm production.

“Ethiopian authorities have indicated an interest in accessing the IMF’s food shock window,” the fund said in an emailed response to queries, without providing more details. More than 20 million Ethiopians, including people who fled their homes because of conflict in the country’s northern Tigray region, don’t have enough to eat, according to the World Food Programme.

The IMF estimates that at least 123 million people in Africa — 12% of the region’s population — will be unable to meet their minimum food needs, 28 million more than just two years ago. The impact of severe drought across several countries has been compounded by Russia’s war with Ukraine, which curbed exports of foods such as wheat and inflated prices.

Sarcasm, You have every right to be anxious on the relief process. Trust me, I do share your feeling too. However; there are some truths we shall not deny. When it comes to the Food AID we are given, the West are not “wasting their money” nor helping us but wising their economy and influence. AID does good for the donor than the receiver. If they really care for us, IMF (World Bank) should have lent us money to buy the wheat from the local farmers (market) instead of lavishing 70-80 percent more in shipping rotten grains all the way from somewhere in the world. When they sail the sack from “Ukraine” that “we didn’t ask,” especially in this peak harvesting season, their sinister motive is explicit that they want to harm the local market.

By the way; Sarcasm, በሚገባው መጠን ያላመረተች እና ዜጓቿን ለመመገብ ያልቻለች ሀገር ስንዴ "export" ለማድረግ ትዘጋጃለች ብለህ ታስባለህ? እኔ እንደዛ አላስብም፤ ይሄ ከሆነማ ሌላ ጉዳይ ነው!
